A disgusted look was imprinted on the glamorous lady. Her voluptuous purple lips began furling into what could be a glance of pity or pure palpable rage. Rage it was definitely rage. I yanked my arm from the grasps of her vivid high orange shoes, taking notice in her aroma. Almost like an array of fresh fruit shimmering with sly droplets of water, it was delightful. What the hell is happening to me I pondered? The drag queen outstretched her purple delicate gloved hand my way and of course I accepted. I now caught a glimpse of her luscious green hair furling into moon crescents along the shoulder pads of a decked out suit. My lips stuttered in the making of an apology but nothing came out, which is also when I came to realize her foot was now outstretched as well, directed somewhere along the lines of my face. The world began to crystallize in slow motion and I wanted so desperately to move but my shoes felt glued taking permanent shelter in the airport tiles.
That's when he came. The man in the tuxedo, the cool sunglasses still perfectly tailored to his face. I glanced over not being able to stifle my relief in the arrival of this man I didn't even know. He surged forward in panic but as a sharp jab etched the corner of my lip and a shoe traced the edges of my jaw we both peered in each other's eyes and knew it was too late. My vision once again became hazed and I plopped onto the cool tile cozy in the familiarity. Oh what the hell is happening to me? I felt the cradle of a warm presence beside me as a bulky calloused hand catered to my wound. I rolled not anticipating the distance I would roll as I rammed into the walkway walls. Where was everybody had they just left me weakly and boarded the plane? I searched for the police and drag queen to no prevail. They had vanished or I was hallucinating. Most likely I was hallucinating I repeated repetitive in my persistence.
I needed to be more persistent now as his sunglasses spiraled off into the air and I saw him. The man in the suit. Tremors of shock followed in waves of rage fulfilled my entire being. Was that my dad? We sat both gaping at each other, cautious in the words to follow. Suddenly my head jerked to the overwhelming smell of smoke, I could feel it journeying down to my lungs. Blackening my insides. Unmistakable smoke. I yanked my buttoned shirt in an attempt to block out the dark eerie feeling that was taking hold of my body. Grasped my shirt harder now as bile rose up in my throat. My knuckles were white around what little thing I finally had control in.
