Sherry wasn't sure how long she had been hiding inside the abandon small scale grocery store but figured it was better then being out there with all the monsters running amok. The girl had gotten in by the faulty backdoor thankful there was still some power inside the building, not every light was functioning but at the majority were still on due a backup generator.
The backdoor lead into the frozen seafood isle where she hid till the stank of fish began to annoy her greatly forcing her to take refuge in another section...
Sherry nearly spat out the contents of her "free" can of soda (truthfully she did feel bad for such an action but now wasn't the time for moral debate) when she heard a loud crash and the following sound of metal banging on the floor. The girl's shaking knee caps were a sign to her mind that something bad had just found her hideout and while she didn't want to go back out into the dangerous city streets she had little choice now.
Placing the can quietly on the floor Sherry did her best to sneak around the isles trying to avoid getting caught in the sights of whatever the intruder was because it sure as hell didn't sound human.
Bags flew, cans crunched, boxes tore, whatever this thing was it was apparently feasting on whatever it could get it's hands on, if it even had hands. Sherry really didn't want to wait to find out. Crawling through the bread isle Sherry took a moment to catch her breath the dreaded frozen seafood section was close by from there she could run toward the backdoor and get out of dodge before she could be found.
But then she heard something that surprised her.
"Food."
It was Claire's voice! Granted it sounded somewhat different from before but the little girl definitely knew it belonged to the older woman.
Instinctively and in retrospect a terrible idea given the situation at hand Sherry called out to Claire.
"Claire I'm over here!"
Again bad idea for a moment later the isle began to shake and Sherry began to hear the same monster-like sounds from before. Looking behind her Sherry let out a sharp cry of terror as she spotted a humongous blob at the opposite end of the isle. To make matters worse it was crawling toward her at an alarming rate!
Frighten Sherry fell on her small rear doing her best to pull away from the monster but then she caught sight of the head of the creature. Was that Claire?!
Sherry couldn't believe or didn't want to believe it. Slowly she called out to whatever it was in front of her.
"C...Claire?"
No response just more oozing forward.
"Food."
Definitely not the response that Sherry wanted or wished to hear!
Claire was nearly on top of Sherry as the girl found her legs and stood straight up even if she was extremely frighten and on the verge of tears because of what had happen to woman she used to know.
Staring at the blob woman before her Sherry trembled in fear yet even with tears flowing down her eyes she called out to Claire once last time!
