Take Tom to town

You decided on taking Tom to a fountain in town to cool off, it was built for hot summer days. Rather than have flowing water, it shot water up from jets in the ground for people to enjoy.

You took Tom down to the town fountain, you fully dressed, him in sandals and trunks, when you got there you let him play with the other kids for a while, while you grew the fishing rod to a giant's scale.

The plan was to indeed grow the rod, and then let a giant use it.
