Chapter #9

Crossing the Street isn't as Easy as it used to be

    by: Unknown
Meowth mangaed to craw out of the alley and a few yards away from him was a bakery filled with his favorite sweet treats. He'd often managed to snag a few now and then, but his current craving for food made him want to eat every last crumb from the store. He got up to the curb and came to a stopped watching cars zip across. He looked over to the street sign and saw the big black button. It took some more work, but he got to it. Using the support of the pole he got on his hind paws and tried to reach the button, but he fell short quite literally as he landed on his back and his mamouth stomach jiggled from the impact. He tried climbing it, but unlike all the other times he pressed the button he was much to heavy to climb it now. Meowth had no choice, but to wait for someone to push the button for him. He was lucky an a mother and her son had to cross there. After pushing the button they waited a moment for the cars to stop. He son poked and teased Meowth's tubby body before the mother pulled him away saying how it was a street cat an obviously fat from picking through everyone's trash cans. Meowth didn't mind. He was enjoying being fat and he insults were more like compliments to him.
The two of them crossed with Meowth a little behind. They quickly go to the other side with Meowth barely half way. His gut was slowing him down and he only had seconds before the light would change. He hoped he would make it in time and if he couldn't that his massive bulk was attention-getting enough for the drivers to see him. Fortunately he didn't have to find that out as he made it with time to spare.
Meowth felt like he ran a marathon as he been drenched with sweat. His muscles ached and his stomach growled in hunger more than ever. After a moment of rest Meowth was ready to act, but how was he going to begin. If he went through the front like he normally did he would most likely be caught in his current state. On the other hand he could try and be stealthy by going in through the back, but he wasn't sure what he'd find back there. He didn't have time to think as the hunger was overwhelming.
