It is so boring you decide to bring Joanna back.
While waiting for Joanna, you vomit some of your liquid form out of Dana and into an empty water bottle; you then spike all the drinking containers in the house with these parts of yourself so that you'll be able to easily possess anyone in the family at your leisure. (You notice that your liquid form can blend in with whatever liquid it is swimming in.) In fact, you capture Mr. Pak almost instantly when he pours himself a glass of Coke. But you're not much interested in him, so you put him into a hypnotic state and draw out just enough of your fluid to keep him pliant.
You have Joanna returns a little after one. "Hey Jo," you say when you answer her knock at the door. "Sarah is upstairs. Can I get you something to drink?"
"I'll take some apple juice," she says cheerfully.
"You got it. How about you ask Sarah what she wants?"
You, of course, are making pointless conversation again. You have Joanna come in, and you start talking, some more.
"How's your brother? I haven't seen him in awhile," you ask in Dana's voice.
"Like I was just telling Sarah, he didn't come home last night," you reply in Joanna's.
"Was he out partying?"
"I don't know. Mom and Dad were really pissed, but now they're worried. They almost didn't let me come over here, but then some guy from the military base showed up to talk to them, and then they said I could go."
"I wonder if David is in trouble over at the base."
"It wouldn't surprise me. He's always getting into trouble."
"But he has a way of getting out of it, too."
"You like my brother, don't you?"
"Yes, I've always liked him. Your parents shouldn't worry about him. I'll give you something that will help them forget all about David." You lean Dana over Joanna, and turn Joanna's face up toward Dana's. You open their mouths and drop a couple of globs of liquid David into your sister's mouth. "That should be enough for everyone."
"I'll put it in our orange juice tonight."
"Good girl."
"Speaking of which," you interrupt yourself with Sarah. "When are we going to get some more fun people to be?"
"Don't you like having Father," you have Dana ask. "Mother will be part of us soon, too."
"They're boring."
"Sarah is going to get us Mary tonight."
"Mary is going out of town with friends for a few nights," says Joanna. "We won't be able to get her until later this week."
"That's alright. Once we have David's mom and dad, we'll quickly add Mary to our collection. I've waited this long to become friends with her. I can wait a little longer. I just know we'll love hanging out together."
"But what will we do until then?" you have Sarah insist. "We should get people from school in on this."
"I'm worried about the military guy," you reply in Joanna's voice. "I'm sure they know what the liquid stuff was that splashed all over David, and what it could do."
"We'll keep an eye on them," you say in Dana's voice. "There. All done. Aren't we pretty?" You bring your girls' faces up close to each other so you can rub your noses together and giggle girlishly.
Then you send Joanna and Sarah out around the neighborhood on their bikes while you put Dana on their homework: with a common mind, she can imitate all their handwriting perfectly. When you feel her mother's mind join yours, you bring her upstairs and put her to work on some of it too. Meanwhile, out in the neighborhood, you bike around in Joanna's and Sarah's bodies, chattering to yourself about boys they think are cute and boys they think are gross. At one point you watch a short convoy of military vehicles grind down the road. You let your two girls go slackjawed, then set them giggling and waving; one of the soldiers grins and waves back.
The whole conversation earlier was, of course, pointless. Even before you opened their mouths you knew exactly what you were going to do. You ... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
