Chapter #30

Rising with the sunshine...

    by: Unknown
The coming of light beaming into the barn windows was like an alarm clock to Bernard as we noticing the increased amount of light bade him to scramble his strong legs and we rose up to our comfortable four legged stance.

Just as we stirred about in the boxed stall, the four other horses there is their stalls stirred awake and rose to standing. It was a new awakening for me, as totally unlike my usual manner of rising in the morning I was taught to tend to do thingings, as an example of brushing my teeth, comb my hair, wash my face and put on clean underwear in case for some reason I needed to go to the hospital my underwear would look presentable; or so mom said that clean undies was very important.

Being then as a horse, Bernard was an animal and to him my thoughts about taught human hygiene almost got him to give me a horse laugh.

"Really Bernard, my friend, if you were me and not as you a horse, if by being human there are many requirements, nurturing like mares do for their foals that being human one does to be accepted by other people as of good breeding." I said, as Bernard seemed to understand more of about my thoughts, as if my mentality and his was still. merging.

Bernard did not reply with use of words as he by then and even with me aboard inside him we had not merged our memories to such an extent that he knew how to speak his mind. He would do things as to mark his responses for me to then understand him and his limited abilities to express his ideas.

"Ah ha," we both had the say thought when hearing first as then seeing farmer John walking toward, as entering the barn, he there to feed and give water to his horses.

That morning would be the first of many future mornings as my time being joined, merged into Bernard was to last a while longer than even I expected. Farmer John noticed something about Bernard as he looked different, and the farmer stood gawking at us for several minutes of weird suspense.

"I can't believe it, its impossible, Bernard you look like your old as much younger self this morning, as to how I can only imagine the merging of Steve has caused a revitalization!

Oh, and a good morning to you Steve, as your parents know as do I that you are inside with Bernard as part of him.

Your dad called me late last night, he found in your room the chalk drawn pentagram you had drawn on your bedroom floor, and there to was a book. The book being a dictionary of magical spells, curses, and the like. I requested of him, your father as not to destroy the book but being it to me, as my late aunt was big into magic and taught me to respect it.

I might from the book discover a method to returning you to be your human self, would you like that?"
Farmer John said as asked, he talking at Bernard but directing his spoken words to me and with a hope I understood what he had said.

I whinnied my response as being there and Farmer John then smiled, he satisfied that his words had got to me and I was still alive being me but in with Bernard. As Mister John the farm owner began his morning rituals of feeding and serving up clean fresh water for our morning drinking, I was to learn that instincts of personal hygiene meant nothing to being a horse. As what made and had its own scenting was to Bernard as something what made him pleased and feel contentment, such that people think of as more vile and quickly discard as make it go away.

Farmer John led the mares out the barn and put each into the front pasture, it being very green and the grasses there were a foot tall. Bernard thought it odd that he, we were not given the opportunity to join the mares, as he had dark masculine ideas floating around in his primal mind as what he wished to do that day.

Farmer John then came back into the barn and he standing outside the wood and iron bar door to the stall, he said, "This morning I plan to have the veterinarian come and check on you, you being Bernard my horse and with you Steven, as something has happened during the night. Bernard, his body has rejuvenated muscle wise, he, as your body looks similar to what he did several years ago.

I am not sure, but maybe due to your use of magic and merging with Bernard that you brought upon him the biblically stated expected life expectancy of three score and ten years. That is my logic about what happened as of how sleek and healthy he looks this morning. If so, and you Steve being a teenager and a healthy and athletic young person, what was you must have done this... rejuvenating of Bernard. That said and if what I think happened is true, then you by being merged with my prize winning stud stallion, you both could live a life together for some sixty years!"

As to what Farmer John said did nothing to give Bernard a thrill, but to me, I understood what Mister John said, and the realization of me remaining for all my lifetime as being a horse, an animal seemed undesirable, as if a curse.
