A Homunculus isn't human, but they take on human shape. A Homunculus has certain powers that an ordinary human doesn't have; turning fingers into long spears that can piecre through anything or able to eat any and all material. How does a Homunculus gain its powers? Are they simply born with these powers, or...are the powers gained from consuming Red Stones? A Red Stone are, of course, the impure form of the legendary Philosopher's Stone. A Red Stone is refined Red Water, which is toxic to humans but not to a Homunculus. And just what is Red Water? Human blood. And the best way to get human blood for the Red Water is by killing humans in vast numbers. The Humunculi are very good at this; they've killed entire villages just to get someone to refine the Red Water into Red Stones. How many Red Stones are produced from Red Water? Depends on how many people were killed to get the Red Water. Perhaps you need only a drop to make a Red Stone from Red Water...or another fixed amount. The Red Stones tend to be the size of golf balls or smaller. Why? Because it's easier to produce Red Stones if they're small. The Humunculi then give a few Red Stones to people, in hopes they might follow the research to create a real Philosopher's Stone...which needs another vast number of people dead to crate. The Homunculi then share the reminding Red Stones left over and use it as a food source. But what if a Homunculus consumed a Red Stone that was bigger than the average Red Stone?
That was the question that Lust had when she caught sight of a Red Stone the size of a small boulder. The unusually large Red Stone was made when someone made a mistake of putting to much Red Water into making a Red Stone. Lust was at Melby, a small town in the west that was wiped out by the Homunculi to draw someone to make Red Stones from the Red Water. The man drawn to Melby was named Zack Sheppard and Lust gave him a Red Stone and gave him a year to produce 125 bags of Red Stones. And now, Lust came back to Melby to get the shipment. One of Sheppard's helpers had made a mistake which led to the unusually sized Red Stone.
Lust was all alone; the other Homunculi were keeping an eye on the Elric brats. Gluttony, Lust's usual travel partner, stayed behind in Central to help Sloth to do something. Lust felt naked without her travel partner, but she traveled with herself a nmber of times before.
"Can I have another Philosopher's Stone?" asked Zack, snapping Lust out of her thoughts. "the one you gave me is loosing its power"
"Sorry" said Lust. "these are needed elsewhere" and then, Lust killed Sheppard..and would've killed his assistants, but they all got away before she could do the deed.
Lust couldn't lift the large Red Stone by herself, so she decided to eat it. Turning her fingers into long lances wasn't the only trick that Lust knew...she just liked killing humans with her lovely little finger-lances.
