Chapter #5The aching within by: somedude   When he first noticed it a week ago, it was easy to dismiss as an odd thought, something that would disappear soon and be done with. Instead, it had only gotten worse and more noticeable. Naruto knew that if he didn't do something about it soon, everyone would find out.
He had first noticed it about a week ago during lunch. As he ate the ramen in his bowl, Naruto noticed something about the noodles was...off. They tasted the same as always, but with each bite, the teen shinobi couldn't help but wonder if something was missing. A certain ingredient, a spice that would complete his meal and keep it from feeling so...empty.
Then he noticed someone sitting down next to him, greeting him with a shot to his skull.
"Naruto! How could you go off to lunch without getting this paperwork done!? You know how much trouble it causes when you don't finish up! Not to mention Kahashi and I are sick of..."
As Sakura lectured him on the importance of the paperwork in his hand, Naruto suddenly realized what was missing. The realization was so sudden, not to mention, frightening, that before he could process it, the boy jumped in the air.
"Naruto?! What are you doing?"
Had he just, even for the briefest moment, thought his ramen would have gone better if SAKURA had been inside of it? That was nonsense. It sounded insane.
Yet, the more he thought about it, the more appetizing the idea was. The smooth skin of his longtime crush, her sweet scent going down his throat.
"IDIOT!"
Another crack on the head brought him back to reality, forcing him to listen to the rest of the lecture. Still, he couldn't help but wonder. Plus, if he ate her, she couldn't hit him anymore.
The idea fled his brain, a fleeting oddity, or so he thought. Several days later, walking home, he noticed a few women in the crowd, people from the academy, some he knew well, some he didn't know well at all. But the second he saw them, the craving returned. These women would make an excellent, filling meal. And he needed to have them now.
Shoving his way through a crowd of people, Naruto found himself holding the arm of one girl, a brown haired teen with her hair in buns. Just as well, since some fresh buns would compliment the flavor of...
"EEEK!"
The screech of the girl and and the looks of those around him brought Naruto to his senses. He was holding TenTen, a member of the same cell that Rock Lee and Neji were part of.
"I'm sorry!" Naruto yelled, his senses quickly returning. "I thought you were someone else!"
Avoiding the longer explanation, Naruto leapt onto the roof and ran home as fast as his legs could take him, struggling with the realization that if he hadn't come to, he may have eaten that woman whole.
This craving frightened him. It had arrived so suddenly, and each time it seemed to come on stronger. Alone, in his house, the noodles that he ate for dinner provided little comfort, especially when he knew he had a different kind of craving. And worst of all, he had no idea what was causing it or what he could do to satisfy it without dining on actual kunochi, young, fresh, lovely kunochi...
Naruto was frightened. Frightened of himself and frightened of what could possibly cause this horrible thing. And worst of all, he was frightened that he couldn't stop himself.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
