As unnoticeable and nearly invisible as the film of earwax on the surface of Janet's swirling ear canal was, to Alex, it was more than enough to remove any traction from Alex's feet on his sister's skin, and have him tumble down into the depth's of his sister's ear.
Janet wasn't necessarily any more hygienically aware or defiant than any other 16-year old girl, but as teenage girls Janet's ear was probably a little dirtier than Alex expected. Most of that was due to his tiny size, and the rest due to him unable to stop what was basically a free fall into the dark pit leading to Janet's sinuses. The hairs he had noticed earlier, though he was hardly an inch deep into the ear canal, were getting thicker and more dense. Before he got too far, however, he crashed onto the ground, skidding a few extra feet in Janet's ear wax.
Now, covered in the thick, paste-like mucus that lined the walls of Janet's ear, Alex stood up and looked around, noting the significant warmer temper, further inside Janet's head. He was so small, that he actually felt a temperature change, within 3 inches of the outside world. Humbling did not begin to describe the experience.
"Janet?" Alex called out, not expecting a response. When he didn't get one, he turned to head further down the massive, waxy, warm cavern. After taking a step, he noticed that, though it was almost completely dark this far inside, the ground began to slope dramatically. Another few steps, and Alex would have fallen into Janet's sinus cavities, and who knows how long he'd be lost inside of her. There was no going any further. Time to try something else.
He turned back around to exit Janet's ear, when...
