Chapter #12

Math and Grudges?

    by: Unknown
It looks like Zen's warning was well-timed. The next room was well-adorned with math paraphernalia and the teacher, a kangaroo, donned a small pair of glasses as he welcomed you into the classroom. Zen took his seat on the far right of the classroom, placing you on the desk, and for a few minutes you watched the other students file into the room.

Just before the bell was due to ring, Corneil sauntered into the room. He quickly caught sight of you and gave you a taunting smile. You were glad that the other students had taken the seats around Zen, forcing Corneil to sit to the left side of the room. Trying your best to ignore his stare, you look to the front of the classroom as the kangaroo began his lesson.

Apparently, their math was very much like their science. The lesson involved little more than basic algebra, which you considered yourself highly proficient at. You felt such an urge to show off your knowledge, and despite Zen's warning, you decided to raise your hand on the first question, promptly giving a correct answer to the other student's surprise.

Noticing a worried look on Zen's face, you glance over at Corneil and see a look of absolute rage on his face. The other herbivores were doing the same, and just to be safe you let Corneil have the next question. He also answered correctly, and a spiteful smile crossed his face.

The rest of the lesson became a shooting match between you and Corneil. You would answer the question then allow Corneil to do the same. He would then give you an opportunity, repeating the process and waiting in vain for one of you to falter. The divided students watched the competition as the teacher obliviously continued his lesson. During this, however, you notice a short (compared to them) fox girl in the corner. Every time you answered a question, a smug smile would cross her face. She obviously had something on her mind, and when the lesson was over you proceeded to ask Zen about her.

"Oh," he said. "That's Kira Granger. She was second in math class right after Corneil."

Well, THAT cleared it all up. You looked in her direction as she packed up her belongings, and she flashed you a grin. You couldn't help but feel proud.

You have the following choices:

1. Corneil has a bone to pick with you.

*Pen*
2. Corneil decided to leave you alone... for now.

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
