As you started flipping through the papers you could tell that your snow leopard friend had been meant to be the ultimate life form. The scientist in charge of the operation sounded a little insane from what you were reading. It looked like the military was involved in this too. They did not seem like they expected this to work, but were only involved in this to make sure they could look like they were using all of their money in a responsible way and thus maintain their budget. When this project started showing some actual results they had been just as surprised as anyone else would have been.
The military did not get that involved in the project even after the project had yielded results. They did not see what was then just a four foot tall snow leopard man could do for them. The lead scientist did not seem sane either and that probably influenced their opinion of the project. As you read you really came to dislike the lead scientist in charge of this project. Despite claiming to want to create the “ultimate life form” he only seemed interested in his work. The snow leopard was treated more like an object than a life form. Some of the things done to the snow leopard sounded pretty brutal to you.
Eventually the snow leopard, referred to as specimen 3245, had started to grow. It bothered you that they had not even bothered to give him a real name. The snow leopard’s growth had been slow at first. After six months he had begun to grow much more rapidly. He had managed to escape after his rate of growth caught them by surprise. Since these files stopped recording information about the snow leopard when he was about 100 feet tall you assumed that was when he had escaped.
The place he was created in was must have been somewhere in Alaska because that was where you live. It was a good thing for the snow leopard if it was because even a 100 foot tall feline would not have been noticed in the isolated area you lived in. Still, he had been growing about ten feet per hour by the time he escaped and his rate of growth had been increasing. You wondered how tall he had been by the time he met you and why he had chosen to befriend you. His only experience with humans had not been positive when he first encountered you. It is surprising he did not crush you like a bug upon spotting you.
There was only one way to find out about your questions and that was to ask the snow leopard. He did not seem to have any trouble hearing you so you asked, “Hey, why did you decide to befriend me when we first met?” It did not seem like that strange a question to ask a friend. Besides, you might find out if he had a real name if he told you the story about how you became friends.
