"Pretty good."
Doug ate a cookie and leaned back in his chair. That ought to shup them up. he thought.
"Well, you know, around here one cookie means you don't like them. What do you think, Adam?"
"I know that one cookie isn't enough for me, Carl. Even Orland here never stops with just one. You sure that you won't have another? Dougie."
Adam's tone had gone negative again and Doug was getting nervous. He took another cookie. When Adam continued to glower he kept eating, forcing the cookies down his throat until the dish was clean.
Adam's glower changed to a grin but Doug wasn't sure that it meant that Adam had welcomed Doug to the family. Adam sat silent, scratching his belly thoughtfully.
"Well, He finally said, nodding at nervous Doug, "our Big city cousin may be skinny and small but I think we all just want to welcome him to the family. Let's take advantage of his abilities. You want to fit in around here, don't you, Dougie?
Doug smiled at nodded at his bulky cousin. "Sure do." he said.
"What we big boys need around here is someone to cook and clean and I nominate you."
