To Stacy's surprise, Amanda grinned from ear to ear. "How... unusual," Amanda said. Fishing a device that resembled a watch out of her pocket, Stacy heard a click as Amanda seemed to start a timer.
"What is that? What are you doing?" Stacy asked.
"Nothing, nothing at all," Amanda said, smiling once more. Stacy couldn't shake the feeling Amanda knew something that she didn't.
Stacy and Amanda sat down on a picnic blanket to eat dinner, which consisted of hamburgers and a salad. As Stacy ate the meal, she discovered that she was getting more and more confused by her surroundings. The tree leaves looked like cats to her, and the wind sounded like constant mewing. She saw cats every time she closed her eyes.
Although Stacy didn't realize it, her thoughts towards cats were beginning to change. While she had always been more of a dog person, now the thought of a dog made her feel almost... afraid. Whenever she heard a bark from the neighbour's yard, she wanted to turn and run inside.
And other things about her personality and habits were changing as well. Using cutlery felt wrong to her, and sitting walking on two legs made her uncomfortable. Towards the end of the meal, when Amanda's timer hit an hour, Stacy realized what was going on.
She didn't just love cats now... She wanted to be one.
