"Ursi," Varona said in a measured but firm voice. "Don't forget yourself. Be alert."
The shorter Faerie still somewhat giddy over her new look, became more focused. Fun was fun...but one should never forget to be cautious. She backed away from the edge of the pond and stood by Varona's side.
Both of them scanned their surroundings, searching for even the slightest hint of danger. After a few moments, Ursi whispered to her partner.
"So you know there's something over there behind that bit of clover, right?'
"Yes," the taller Faerie whispered back calmly. "Small. Light on its feet too."
"That doesn't mean it isn't dangerous," Ursi replied.
"True...though I'm not too worried in this case." Varona paused. "Doesn't feel like a threat to me."
Ursi smiled at that and allowed herself a bit of relief. She had a lot of faith in her lover's instincts...though both of them were too smart to rely on that alone.
Varona pulled out the blade she'd used to cut Ursi's hair earlier. It's extreme sharpness could make it quite the weapon in the right hands...and Varona was nearly as skilled as a fully trained Pixie warrior. Meanwhile, Ursi bent over and snatched a small pebble from the ground. The took aim and tossed it into the clover.
"Hey!" a slightly pained response came from within the clover...proving the pebble had hit its target. A moment later, the owner of that voice stepped out from hiding.
