Being too small to look into door peephole as usual, Tails flew up.
"Gotta get used to it." he thought before looking to check who came. He smiled at seeing the familiar face.
Tails turned the key and opened the door. At the entrance stood the yellow fox girl in a red dress. That was one of Tails' friends. Her name was Zooey. And Tails couldn't help but feel amazed by how much taller than him she was now.
Just a few years ago, when Tails was already her friend, Zooey was a skinny girl and not really popular with boys. Tails didn't care about their opinion though. Back then, he actually had a crush on her. But he didn't gather enough courage to ask her out. Still, Tails was able to become good friends with Zooey. Over time, his crush on her passed, and now he only liked her as a friend. At least, that's what he thought.
Now, Zooey was 23, only two years older than Tails. Something about her also changed by that time. People could even say - a lot. Zooey's puberty period seemed to have rewarded her very well as she grew pretty big assets. Her chest, hips, thighs and butt - all of it was as big as Cream's, maybe even a little bit bigger. Now, Zooey was pretty popular with boys. Whenever Tails came to visit, he'd notice that Zooey was discussed among them just as much as two other popular beautiful girls in that village.
"Wow. She's so much bigger than me now! Still not fully used to it." Tails thought with an awkward chuckle.
Zooey looked forward with a smile, then it switched to confusion as she didn't see Tails in front of her.
"Tails? Where are you?"
"I'm here." the familiar voice came from below.
Zooey looked down and saw 15 inches-sized Tails. Letting out surprised "Aaaah!", she stumbled backwards and fell on her butt.
"Zooey! Are you alright?" Tails asked with concern as he walked closer to her.
Zooey raised her head and looked at him again.
"Wait, T-Tails?" she said with her eyes widened.
"Heheh, hi Zooey. Like you see, I'm much smaller now for real."
Zooey slowly extended her arm.
"L-Let me touch you. I want to check, if you don't mind." she asked shyly.
Tails nodded and got close enough so she could touch him with her arm. Zooey felt Tails' hand with her fingers. It felt fully real, not a hologram, made of real flesh, not metal. She also felt Tails' fur on his maw, slowly running her hand over it.
"It's... it's not a trick." Zooey whispered.
"It's not. Now calm down, Zooey, and let's go to the workshop. My scooter is waiting for you there."
"Forget about the scooter. What happened to you?" Zooey asked with concern.
"I'll be sure to explain everything to you once we get to the workshop. Also, I'm not alone here." Tails said before he started walking towards the workshop.
Zooey walked after him. The distance of her footstep was now much longer than Tails'. But thinking that going ahead of him wouldn't be nice, she was sure to stay behind Tails during the whole walk. As they did, Zooey kept looking at her small friend in surprise.
"He's so small now. Like a toy. Watch your step, Zooey. You don't want to hurt him, do you?." she thought to herself.
Once they entered the workshop, Zooey saw her scooter and a company.
"Oh, you're back, Tails! And- Oh!" Cream began before noticing Zooey. She gave her a friendly smile. "Are you Tails' friend? I'm his friend too! Hello!"
Zooey smiled back and waved at her shyly. "H-Hello. Yes, I'm Tails' friend. My name is Zooey."
"My name is Cream." Cream said, holding both hands behind her back. "Nice to meet you!"
"Nice to meet you too." Zooey nodded.
"Your scooter is here, Zooey. I tested it, the problem is fixed. You can check how well it works yourself." Tails said, walking towards the scooter.
But then Zooey grabbed him by the arms, picked him up, and sat him down on a chair.
"Nuh-uh. I'm not checking my scooter until you tell me what happened to you." she said, sitting on a chair in front of Tails.
"Well, alright then." Tails shrugged.
In a few minutes, Tails told Zooey about how he invented a shrink ray, how the experiment gone not as he expected and how that resulted in him getting this small. He also mentioned that thanks to shrink ray he could change his size in limited range and even decided to demonstrate it. Zooey felt unsure about this, wondering if this was safe for Tails. Still, Cream shot at Tails, shrinking him to 2 inches.
"Wow... is this... for real?" Zooey thought as she stood on her knees, looking down at Tails, who was standing on a chair. She offered him her hand. Tails nodded and stood on it. Zooey lifted him up and placed him om a table. Now he was standing on one level with her head.
"Yes, Zooey, it really works." Tails said with a smile.
Then, a footsteps were heard and Vanilla entered the room.
"Oh, you must be Zooey." she said in a sweet tone as she saw the fox girl. Zooey nodded absentmindedly, staring at the tall woman with bigger assets.
"Wow, she's so big. And they say I'm the biggest girl." Zooey thought in delight.
"My name is Vanilla. Nice to meet you."
"O-Oh." Zooey said as she snapped out of it. "Yes, nice to meet you too."
"Me and Cream are taking care of this little fox boy who stands at the table." Vanilla said with a smile. "It's more difficult for him to take care of himself at this size, so we're helping him. He really needs it, especially after what has been happening to him these days."
"What do you mean?" Zooey asked.
"Um, no, no need to worry her. She is here after her scooter after all." Tails said.
Zooey looked at Tails with concern.
"Tails, is there something going on?" she asked. There was no anger in her voice, only concern.
"I guess I'll better tell her myself." Tails thought.
Zooey's concern turned to worry as Tails told her about how... unlucky he was on battles against Eggman and had to be taken care of by Cream and Vanilla a lot.
She frowned a bit. "Why you never told me about this, Tails? You... you don't trust me? Aren't we friends?"
"We are! Of course we are, Zooey!" Tails quickly said, seeing sadness on her face. "I just didn't want to worry you!"
"I am worried that you hide such important things from me! You are my friend and I... I care about you too, you know!" Zooey said, looking down sadly.
Tails flew close to her and landed on her shoulder. Feeling it, Zooey made sure not to move much so he wouldn't fall by accident.
"I'm sorry for not telling you, Zooey. I'm really sorry, I promise. Is there anything I can do for you?" he asked.
Zooey turned her giant face to him. Tails held himself from stepping back.
"Yes. Never hide such things from me again." she said, looking at him seriously. That was a look people rarely could see from her.
"A-Alright." Tails quickly nodded. He put his hand to his heart. "I promise that I'll never be hiding secrets from you again."
Zooey looked at him for a few more seconds. Then she nodded.
"Alright then. I forgive you."
Tails flew up and returned to the table.
"So, you're really planning to stay in a shrank state for some more time? But isn't it dangerous?" Zooey asked with concern.
"No, as long as there are me and my Mom to take care of him. Tails is now living in our house." Cream said.
"Phew. Please, keep him safe."
"We will, Zooey." Vanilla nodded.
Then, Zooey turned to her scooter. Cream returned Tails' size back to 15 inches. He opened the garage door.
"Here, now you can test it, Zooey." Tails offered.
Zooey nodded and used the key to start her scooter. Tails and Cream watched as she rode her scooter. Her dress had a bit longer skirt than Cream's, so in Zooey's case Tails could only see her underwear if he looked carefully enough. Luckily for himself, Tails wasn't that kind of person, so he simply watched his friend ride her scooter.
Finally, Zooey stopped in front of them and smiled in satisfaction.
"Yes, Tails, it works perfectly." she said, getting off the scooter. "Thank you so much!"
"You're always welcome, Zooey." Tails nodded.
Vanilla walked up to her and smiled. "Would you like some tea?"
Zooey scratched her head. "I do have time."
"Alright then. I'll go make some." Vanilla said before leaving to the kitchen.
After Vanilla left, Cream turned to Zooey and Tails.
"I have an idea. While Mom is making tea, why don't we play?"
"Hm? Play what?" Zooey asked.
"Hide and Seek, of course!" she said. "Since Tails is much smaller here, I wonder how easy it will be for him to hide from the two of us."
"Well, I, uuuuuh-"
"Not gonna lie, that sounds pretty interesting." Tails said before turning to his fox friend. "But you don't have to play if you don't want to."
"I don't mind. I'd like to play." Zooey said, holding a finger on her chin.
"Now, let's shrink Tails so it would be more interesting." Cream offered. She took a shrink ray and shot at Tails.
Tails shrank to said size and looked up at the girls with a smile. Mentally he was trembling a bit at how tall and mighty both girls looked in front of him. Cream then explained the rules. How she confessed later, she was considering playing this game even before they came to Tails' house, and Amy was the one who helped with making up the rules.
"We're playing until Mom tells us to go have tea. You, Tails, can hide in any room you like, except for the workshop. You have so much stuff there, there's no way we'll find you in that room. Also, you should only hide in places where we can reach you. For example, hiding under the floor isn't allowed."
"Okay, I understood." Tails nodded.
"Now, me and Zooey are gonna stay in the workshop and count to 20, after which we'll go look for you. Now go hide, Tails! The game is starting!" Cream said cheerfully.
"Good luck, Tails." Zooey said with a cute little smile.
Cream and Zooey started counting. Tails ran out of the workshop and started looking for a place to hide. He was having a choice between the hall, the kitchen, wardrobe and his bedroom. Thinking quickly, Tails chose...
