Now I had my own idea that is very similar, but is different to this one, it's close enough that it doesn't make sense to put it as 'not this one, that one' so I'll put the deviation here instead.
You see from where I'm standing, it doesn't make sense that Ben would get mixed up in the body swapping shenanigans, ends up back in his body but the girls are stuck in each other's bodies, with no way to change back, indeed if it worked to put Charmcaster back in Gwen's body and swap Ben and Gwen, why would the 3rd time be different?
So how about this: What if when Charmcaster attempted the second swap, it didn't work. Unbeknownst to Charmcaster the spell is for a permanent swap, so Charmcaster and Gwen are completely unaffected by the second spell. Technically Ben is but the only viable body for swapping is his own, so he remains there (RC if this means Ben is immune from future attempted body swaps or not) while Gwen and Charmcaster are trapped in each other's body.
So, do you want the original idea, where Gwen and Charmcaster are stuck in eachother's bodies after the 3rd swap.
Or do use just want the initial swap to be permanent.
