Chapter #50

The Saxon Invasion

by: rugal b. Author IconMail Icon
Probably it's because you don't have time to fantasize about her that you don't give much thought to Brianna. Oh sure, spend another night in Eric and you definitely would give her all the thought you could give her but when you go to bed it will hopefully not be as Eric Murphy. Not that you hate being him, on the contrary it's fun in its own way. Eric is as free spirited as they come and it's kind of liberating to be able to act in a way that you yourself would never be able to do otherwise. But you have to admit it's tiring not just for you but for others as well. Eric's social energy, and his physical energy, is boundless and you've noticed how it wears on people.

So it'll be a relief to take a break from Eric if only for a bit though you wonder how much calmer where you're going will be. But this will be for Eric's benefit, or yours you suppose when you're playing him, and make things a lot easier by taking a troubling piece off of the table. You would be lying though if you said there wasn't even the slightest bit of interest on your part in taking a peek inside Melanie Saxon's head and seeing things from her point of view. After all you only have Eric's and those of his friends and there's going to be a certain bias there; not that there wouldn't be a bias on Melanie's end but at least you'd have both sides.

You know where Melanie will be so you make your way over the the main locker corridor on the back wall and near the corner of E-wing. Fiddling with her locker and shoving books in is Melanie. She looks down though, waiting for someone to cheer her up and that someone would probably be you. But as you get ready to walk up to her you stop. Melanie's not alone and it's who she's with that gives you pause.

Philippa Hosford is not normally someone who would intimidate anyone. She is short and thin and with her thick, curly and dark hair and proclivity for oversized sweaters and hoodies she seems to sink into herself. But she's doe-eyed and has an energetic fidgetiness to her like a squirrel... and she's as cute as one too, Eric thinks. But she's Melanie's friend and not just a friend but her best friend and where Melanie is concerned she morphs from cute squirrel to vicious pitbull. Sure Eric will approach her and Hermione and Shelby in their sixth period class (when he's not hanging around Brianna of course) but that's different. Shelby's there and Shelby is a mature and reasonable person able to temper the other two.

But alone? Bad news. With Melanie? It'd be like taking a bat to hornet's nest. Even Eric has sense enough to stay away and in this case so do you. Instead you hang back out of sight. What they're talking about you certainly can't hear and neither you nor Eric are lip readers. You do notice notice Melanie's head hang a little, Philippa's hand on her back as she leans in and Melanie shaking her head. After a few minutes Philippa gives her a friendly hug and heads off and you're thankful that the crowd of students means she doesn't notice you even as she passes within mere feet. Once she's gone you look to see Melanie still at her locker.

This is your chance so you're going to take it.

"Babe!" you exclaims as you place a hand on her shoulder. Melanie jerks away from it though and then just as fast jerks around to stare you down.

"Fuck off," she says with as much bile as she can muster, her face twisted up into a sneer.

You don't like that or rather Eric doesn't like that because it's a pretty face and he doesn't like seeing that kind of ugly expression on it and doesn't quite understand why she would want to wear it. Certainly it looked much better when those hazel eyes, still sharp, were focused on him with a loving softness. And it was nice canoodling in the hammock and running fingers through her soft auburn hair.

"Mel, babe, c'mon," you protest. "You don't need to be like that."

"Be like what, Eric!" she replies, now with more venom than bile. "You think you can do that and then just walk up like everything's fine?"

"I know, I know, I fucked up babe. I'm sorry," you protest. "But I've had the last few days to think and I just know that I was wrong and I wanna make it up to you."

Her eyes continue looking at you with a narrow sharpness. "Who are you and what have you done with Eric Murphy?" she asks but there's no hint of jocularity. "Because Eric is an immature, self-centered asshole and he'd never do things like admitting he fucked up."

"Yeah, I know, I wasn't thinking," you reply in as contrite a tone as you can manage. "But that was then and I've been thinking now and I realize that I want to make things right with you."

"You can make them right by fucking off."

"Or you can come with me out to this place," you say. "I got these buddies and they do these video review things right? It's out at a storage place and shit, it's really cool. But like they want me to star in one but I figure I need a co-star."

"You seriously think I'm going to co-star in anything with you?" she sneers. "That's assuming you're even telling the truth in the first place, Eric."

"I'm on the level right now, I swear!" you proclaim. "Anyway so thinking about us and needing a co-star... I want to use that to kind of tell you that, you know," you grab her hand and she doesn't jerk away, "that I'm sorry and that I want to get together. Like we can do it right an' junk." With another hand you cup her chin.

Melanie again doesn't pull back. Her look his still wary but she was so head over heels for him that in Eric's hands, with a few sweet words, she's putty. But she still resists though less fiercely. "I was going to call my sister to give me a ride home," she protests albeit weakly.

"Forget her," you say as you hold her other hand. "Just come out with me, we'll shoot this, and I'll take you back. Then we can spend all day together tomorrow. Or maybe I won't take you back and we can find somewhere tonight."

She pauses and shifts, she looks down for a moment but when she looks back up her look is hopeful. "Okay," she says meekly while nodding. "I'll go with you and we'll see what happens."

She was as easy to get as you fantasized about earlier... so why does a part of you feel bad about that?

* * * * *

You awaken in a small room, very cold and very... naked!? Instinctively you your breasts with your hand and auburn hair falls into your face. Your auburn hair. Your auburn hair. It's the same auburn hair that rested on the head of Melanie Saxon but now rests on your head because you're Melanie Saxon

You're Melanie Saxon because as you walked out to the parking lot you'd texted Beta-Fairfax to tell him about who you were bringing and that he needed to be out there like ten minutes ago. You're Melanie Saxon because when you'd gotten there and entered the unit without the video equipment, a blank mask had been placed on her face. Then Beta-Fairfax filled you in on everything; that Melanie wasn't to be your beta for the time being but that Eric was. Then he said he'd treat the inside of the Eric Murphy mask with whatever special goop is needed to control the beta for you. Then he'd pulled off your mask and everything went black.

Then you woke up.

That's why you're Melanie Saxon. A very naked Melanie Saxon. But much as you want to go to town on seeing just what it is that she offers you stop because there are two presences in the room as well. You look to the far side and there is Fairfax trying, you guess, to play the perfect gentleman. Even knowing it's you he's not going to look at a naked girl without her permission you suppose.

But the other presence is much closer. You can feel it almost physically and you want to smack it away. Instead you grab it buy the shirt collar, pull it in and plant a large, wet, deep kiss on it. That serves to start getting you excited and you realize you want this presence not just beside you but inside of you too. Melanie is very much holding Eric to the words that you had him speak: to get back together, to be a real couple. She'd like that very much but you don't think you would.

It's easy of course, especially with you controlling both halves of this tempestuous pairing. But easy doesn't mean best. Melanie was so quick to latch onto your words and her devastation from the "not-a-break-up"? There's a clinginess and a neediness there you suspect and it made you feel kind of bad to take advantage of it.

So putting Eric and Melanie together as an official couple like you'd promised her? It's easy and it makes the most sense. But is it for the best? Even with you controlling them you'd have to play the characters, stay in character, which means Eric has to be a horndog which means breaking Melanie's heart again probably. No, there's a part of you that thinks that maybe Melanie and Eric is in fact a very bad idea for both parties involved... but especially for Melanie.
