Chapter #7

Attracting a mate

    by: Marco122 Author IconMail Icon
Taking perch on a nearby outcropping, the Gryphon surveyed the valley. With more cocks than hens competition would be fierce, particularly for the larger more virile partners. Although young he was confident his ambitions would soon be realised, and his captives would help assure that.

He would only need to find the right opportunity, and sooner the better. Spotting a potential opportunity, he hopped down from his perch.

A male had left his partner to go hunt, leaving her alone at least for a while. Resting by the river bed she was initially aggressive giving a short but forceful growl that stopped the Gryphon in his tracks.

With a apologetic coo he retreated slightly, allowing the female to relax but keep close watch over him. Perhaps, he had been a little too eager and rather than risk further damage he leaned back onto his haunches.

Suddenly the females interest changed, resting on his hind the legs the Gryphon's features were on full display. The fluffy feathered mane to his heavy vainy orbs, where the two dragons were stored.

Having her attention, and very aware of his limited time to woo the Hen, he returned onto all fours spreading his wings to form a semicircle to assist the display that followed. Making sure to take full advantage of his assets, after all he doubted few other males could offer the same opportunity.

Dragons and Gryphon's had long been rivals, two apex predators sharing habitats was always going to end in disaster. The Gryphon's had the worst of it, and their numbers dwindled until only small aeries remained. Combined with their poor feline fertility it didn't paint the brightest of futures, but two dragons might change that.

There was a common belief that they might turn the tables, integrating the powers of dragons into a new primordial species of Gryphon. So far, no Gryphon had been able to test that theory, and he had not one but two. Still it was mere legend and she wouldn't simply accept him on that basis alone, luckily a decade of practice paid dividends.

Both curious and pleased by his display the female approached purring invitingly as she walked by rubbing against his neck presenting to him.

The Gryphon trilled swaying his factories into heavy production as he mounted her.
