A few years ago, Arnie the greyhound was moderately successful on the racing scene, and took a few pawfuls of victories in chase of the elusive rabbit. But, sadly, all good things must come to an end, and the brindle dog reached his peak soon after his third birthday. He kept trying, pushing his smallish body as hard as he could, but his owner finally retired him at the ripe old age of four years, two months. Before the leaves could change colour as summer faded, he found himself being adopted by a suburban family; he didn't know that, of course, just that there was a large amount of green around their home. Now, after a year and a half out of racing, Arnie has settled down into a pleasant retirement, and has begun to accept a little more of the treats that the younger humans offer him.
