It wasn't hard to find Shauna, Calem, and their friends. They were sat around a table in the centre of Aquacorde Town. Serena slowed down a little as she approached the group, looking over the two members she hadn't met. One was a tiny ginger haired boy, who looked to be even more delicate than Shauna. Sat next to him was an extremely fat boy with spiked up black hair. Serena felt the relief rush through her, at least one of the group was fatter than her. And by quite a bit too. Serena felt her spirits lift a little as she finally reached the table, and gave a shy little wave as she sat down to join the group.
"This is Serena!" Shauna beamed at the blond girl, "I've been telling them all about you. This is Trevor," she gestured to the ginger haired boy, who gave Serena a shy smile in response, "And this is Tierno." The fat boy nodded and smiled at Serena, who offered an awkward one back.She was just so exhilarated that he was fatter than her, it made her feel a little giddy. Misery loved company, especially when the company was fatter. She felt a little bad for having such awful thoughts about what seemed to be a perfectly nice guy, but he seemed perfectly happy being the size that he was.
"Anyway, Shauna," Calem cut across his excitable friend with a weary, but patient, smile, "Serena, I've got great news. The local pokemon Professor was going to hand out pokemon to us all," he gestured to himself, Shauna, Trevor and Tierno, "But once he heard about you, he decided he wanted to give you one too. So, if you wanted to, you could start out on a pokemon journey. Just like we're doing." Serena's eyes widened. She had always intended to go on a pokemon journey, but the events of last year had set her back somewhat. She had never really thought about it since gaining weight, but it wasn't as if chubby, or fat, trainers couldn't go on a journey?
"You're all going?" Serena asked, it took all she had to contain her excitement, "I... always did want to go on a pokemon journey." Plus, she reasoned giddily to herself, she had to lose weight with all that walking she was going to do.
"That's right," Shauna was practically buzzing with excitement as she pulled out a slender looking suitcase from underneath the table, "Trevor and Tierno already have theirs, so these three are going to be ours." She popped open the lid to the suitcase, and for a moment she, Calem, and Serena gazed at the pokeballs nestled inside. The balls were shining underneath the bright sunlight, and Serena felt her breath catch in her throat. She was really going to be getting a pokemon of her own? For once her worries about her weight were far from her mind.
"I think we should let Serena pick first," Calem spoke up after a moment, his calm, grey-blue eyes rising up to look at Serena, "Go on. Choose."
Serena heisted, before looking down at all three pokeballs.
