Chapter #5

The carriage hit a bump, and the scroll ripped ...

Sean eyed the yellow scroll nervously as it bounced on the prince's lap. The prince has no idea how important the piece of parchment was. After all, Sean the scribe had crafted it on direct orders from the Queen of Grovan. While the King was either ignorant or simply didn't care about Kelos' gallivanting about with the maids of the castle, the Queen was another manner. She was ready for Kelos to finally take on the responsibility of prince and do his royal duties and make political relationships with the neighboring kingdoms and more importantly provide her with grandchildren to continue the family line, preferable the non-bastard kind.

So that was why she'd asked Sean to create a scroll of binding marriage that he was to use on Kelos and Fia as soon as they came to terms on their arranged marriage. It was a tool to be used to make sure neither could back out or go behind each other's back without dealing with the magical consequences. The fate of two kingdom's relied on that little yellow scroll, and with each bounce and bump of the scroll Sean felt like it was punching him in the heart. With this in mind Sean gulped and said, "I believe it's time I put that back in my pouch my Prince." Sean reached for the scroll but Kelos pulled it away.

"I think not, I think I'd rather read this myself to find out what kind of magics you've prepared for the Princess. I'm afraid I'm going to insist that I know if you're magic will make her worthy of my gaze." Kelos reached for the magical seal and Sean yelped out, "NO!" and grabbed the other end of the scroll. But at the same time the carriage ran over a rather sizable branch. The two men slammed back into their seats, each with half of the now torn yellow scroll. Sean's eye's widened as he realized what had happened, "Oh no, oh no, oh no."

Kelos slapped Sean with the back of his hand, "Calm down fool, you'll just have to make another, it's probably for the best, the first one was probably not good enough, I'll tell you exactly what I want your next scroll to say and it's going to...going to." Kelos suddenly felt himself getting light headed and Sean was feeling the same sensation, however he was ready for it, as much good as that would do.

He knew the Scroll of Binding Marriage, at least the way he had made it, could only be used to create a magical marriage between a man and a woman, and sense the scroll had gone off with himself and the Prince as the only possible subjects, it's magic was about to take a dramatic hold on one of them. The only question was in this accidental magical marriage, who would be the husband, and who would be the wife?
