"Great job guys!" Rise Kujikawa gave her usual post battle speech with less enthusiasm that usual. Another day in the tv world, another day of her playing cheerleader and pointing out obvious weaknesses.
"Right.....ok guys lets go!" Teddie cheered, leading the group further into the tv world with his usual gusto.
"....Wish I could charge in like that." she sighed, lowering her head slightly. "Sure, my abilties are important....but.....I just feel so pathetic sometimes." Rise slowly followed, with most of the group not even noticing she'd been lagging behind.
It was funny. Rise thought, that despite her shadow being harder for everyone to defeat than nearly all the others, the abilities it gave her were support only.
"What? Think I'm holding out on you?" a sinister voice whispered in her ear.
Rise turned in shock to see....herself, staring at her. "Hiiiiiii." her shadow self sing songed. "Miss me?"
"You!....but....I accepted you! You shouldn't be here! You should be..." "You're Persona?" the shadow mocked. "I am....but I'm also part of you.....and I know what you're feeling."
"Just....just shut up!" Rise shouted. "You...." she began. "Not you?" the shadow muttered. "No.....you are...." Rise's bravado deflated.
"I am. You. And holding out on you..." the shadow taunted. Rise was taken aback. "What? What do you mean."
"I mean keeping you weaker than you should be. The Persona thing is just the tip of the iceberg. You have no idea how powerful I am.....or you could be." the shadow moved closer.
"P....power?" Rise repeated. "Oh yeah. I could make you strong, fast." the shadow winked "Irresistible"
Rise stared in shock. "All you need to do is....accept me. Completely this time." the shadow grinned.
"And before you ask. Yes. There's a catch. This won't be like you're persona magic show stuff. This would change you, inside the tv world...and out."
"So...this new power.....would stick with me outside?" the girl questioned. The shadow shrugged. "Probably. But hey. That's a risk you take. Maybe you could become a super heroine" It laughed. "Or just stay out of trouble. But either way, would you rather be the same weak little girl you are now?" Rise's shadow poked her in the chest.
Rise thought hard. Clearly this was playing with something she didn't totally understand....but......maybe, maybe it was she wanted all along. Or maybe the shadow was tricking her.
