After an hour of gorging herself on her mother's cooking, Wendy decided to let her stomach settle by laying on the couch and watching some television. The local news reporters, who all looked a bit heavier than they were a few days ago, were talking about a new buffet-style burger joint that had opened up in town recently.
She was only half listening to the TV; part of her attention was devoted to just keeping down the enormous amount of food she had stuffed into her gut. She'd never pigged out like this before, and yet her mother and father both acted like nothing was out of the ordinary.
A few minutes later, she got a text from Tracy inviting her to go to the mall. Fighting against the urge to just lay on the couch all day, she got up and decided to join them.
On the way out, she passed her mother, who was still in the kitchen eating pastries.
"I'm going to the mall with Tracy and Danica, I'll see you later, okay?"
Her mom swallowed a mouthful of jelly-filled donut. "Okay honey, be back for dinner! And don't forget to eat lunch!"
