As the two sisters got in line to check out, Lilo eyes wandered around the store, enjoying her new much higher vantage point. All of the things she couldn't see before, like over people's heads. It was as if she was seeing the world for the first time, how had she ever managed before her massive growth spurt? Despite it only being hours, it felt like a lifetime ago that she was desperately trying to reach things on shelves...and now she wouldn't even have to stretch anymore. "This is awesome, is this what it's like for you Nani?"
"Not quite, but after we buy these shoes I'm setting up an appointment for you to get a checkup."
"Huh? But why?"
"Because I don't think there's ever been a case where someone has grown this much in such a short amount of time! We need to make sure you're actually okay."
"I told you I feel great though! I don't feel sick, I'm not in pain, I have more energy than I've ever had in my life! I-" Lilo cut herself off when in her peripheral vision she spotted a flash of light brown hair with blonde tips, and her heart immediately went into overdrive. "Is that...Keoni?!"
"Lilo, what are you-"
"You know what? Go ahead and make that appointment big sis...I wanna go say hi to a friend...a very special friend."
"Lilo wait!" Nani's words fell on deaf ears, and her turn with the cashier came up just as she ran off, pinning Nani where she was. "Great. Stitch, can you bring her back here please while I pay for these?"
"Okie taka!
Meanwhile, the unsuspecting Keoni was in the boy's section, checking out the latest in shoe designs. "These kicks are sick." he said to himself as he reached for the next pair.
"Hi Keoni."
The voice drew his attention, recognizing it as Lilo. "Hey Lilo," He started to turn around to look at her. "How's it go...ing." The boy's eyes widened in shock. Lilo's chest was where her face should have been, at least the last time he saw her, which was last week. "Uhhhh..."
Lilo couldn't help but smile, Keoni always seemed so tall to her, so out of reach...her crush on him had only grown as he continued to treat her with kindness, and now it was with great delight that she made the mental connection: her body was now matching her growing crush. "How's it going?" She asked for him with a cute grin as she swayed back and forth. "I'm just here to get some new shoes, I kinda had a growth spurt and outgrew my old ones."
"Yeah...no kidding."
"It's pretty cool, now I know what it's like for you!" She took a step closer to him, the boy frozen in place as his brain tried to process what was happening. Lilo was so tall that the top of her head was at his nose, whereas normally she'd barely reach his chest. He was tall for his age, a few inches away from 5 feet, and to see Lilo almost as tall as him left him speechless, unsure of how to react.
"You know, I've never really gotten a chance to see your eyes so up close before." She said. "They're really brown."
"Uh...yeah, they are. I mean..."
"What's wrong Keoni?" Lilo put on an exaggerated pout as she placed her hands behind her back. "Aren't you happy to see me?"
"O-Of course! Yeah, it's...good to see you Lilo." He smiled a bit, blushing as she leaned in closer to him. "So...growth spurt huh?"
"Yep!" She beamed at him. "I just started growing like a weed, I noticed today during hula class..." She lidded her eyes halfway, doing her best to look flirtatious like she'd seen on TV. "How do I look now that I'm bigger?"
"You uh...you look great Lilo."
"Really? Thanks!" And with that, Lilo lunged forward and wrapped the brown-haired boy into a big bear hug, snuggling him and causing him to blush profusely from the public display of affection. Fortunately - or unfortunately depending on point of view - Stitch showed up at that moment to break it up, tugging on her skirt to pull her away.
"Goocha! Goobaja!"
"Aww, do we HAVE to?"
"Ih." the experiment nodded an affirmative.
"Fiiiiine." Lilo rolled her eyes before finally letting Keoni go, smiling at him demurely. "I'll seeya around Keoni...who knows, maybe the next time you see me, I'll be even bigger!"
Keoni's eyes widened. "Seriously?"
"Maybe! I'm a growing girl after all..." In a burst of confidence brought on by her increased size, Lilo leaned and gave Keoni a lingering smooch on his cheek, and he blushed beet red as a result. "And I'd love to go through the experience with someone I REALLY like."
"Uh..."
"Ugh...iki bah bah!"
"Okay, I'm coming...bye Keoni!"
"Bye...Lilo..."
They made their way out of the store at last, where Nani was waiting for them by the front door...with a knowing smirk on her face. "You finished making him blush?"
"Oh you saw that huh?" Lilo smiled proudly with her hands on her hips. "Guess being almost as big as he is gave me a confidence boost! And it TOTALLY worked!"
"Alright, alright. I'm glad you got to enjoy yourself, but you're not out of the woods yet. I still want to get you checked out...this kind of growth, it isn't normal."
"Normal's overrated," Lilo waved her hand dismissively. "Besides, if being big got Keoni to notice me like THAT? I wouldn't mind getting even bigger! Maybe he'll ask me to be his girlfriend! I look a lot more like the girls he normally hangs out with now."
"Nyah nyah, Lilo huaa boojiboo!"
"Oh stop, he's not my boojiboo...at least not yet."
"Let's just get you home before we have anymore surprises."
