Let's get crazy with some cartoon characters, new and old, canon and crossovers.

Chapter #9

How about (mostly Canadian) Toy Anime?

by: Mecha Engineer Author IconMail Icon
Things like Digimon(originally) Monsuno, Bakugan, Tenkai Knights, Chaotic, Beyblade, and such. Mostly Spin Master stuff. Thanks, Canada!
Or perhaps Slugterra? Not a fan of it, but it's definitely not been done here before.
Or we can reinforce the entirely fictional toy (as in, the toy itself doesn't exist), promoting anime Angelic Layer's presence on this site.
(Plenty of suggestions, virtually no places to put them, oh the struggles of free accounts.)

Tenkai Knights (I was so drawn to the bots I forgot about the people. The show did a good enough job balancing toy pushing and a compelling plot, impressive if a bit cliched. The beast arc definitely isn't my cup of tea, nor the ass pull ending.)

Bakugan: Battle [Blank] ([Brawlers] I love toy-driven shows that get so absorbed in their story that they forget to push the product, too bad the reboot [Planet] screwed the pooch with its first compelling plot point unrelated to the standard power scaling affair of shonen anime.)

Monsuno (It's the forgotten cousin of Bakugan that I haven't read or watched, so I can't do it justice here.)

Chaotic, Chaotix? (The dimension-hopping CCG/TCG anime is not horrible. Definitely cringy, but if you can push through that, it's a good enough show to justify it. Definitely, the weakest here, unless Monsuno is worse than I imagined.) (This one probably belongs in another section, and all of the Spin Master shows deserve a shared spot dedicated to them next to Mattel.)

Beyblade (Has way too much to cover here, despite originally having the lowest presence when I was first introduced to this "genre" of anime.)

Slugterra (it's Nerf, but with elemental slugs instead of foam darts. There is probably more to it than that, but I haven't seen it.)

Angelic Layer (I didn't inhale it either, but I haven't lost the positive opinion of it that I started with.)
