"Hey!" his wife shouted before glowing like the candle had before. A second later, she disappeared, leaving her clothes to fall empty to her chair.
"Whoa!" Robbie said, jumping up and rushing around the table to stare down at the empty clothes. Tessa joined him, while the twins stayed in their seats, not sure what was going on.
"Where did she go?" Tessa asked nervously.
"Oh, she's still there somewhere," Mike answered cryptically.
"Cool," Robbie said and started to reach for his mother's clothes.
Tessa caught his hand and pushed him back. "No way, perv," she said. "I'll find her." Robbie stuck his tongue out at her, but stepped back. It took her only a second to find her mother. "You turned her into a rock?" she asked, holding up the smooth stone she had found sitting inside her mother's skirt.
"Yep," Mike smiled.
"That's Mom?" Billy asked, leaning closer for a better look.
"It is," Mike confirmed.
"Cool," Robbie said again, taking the stone from his sister. He swore he could make out his mother's surprised face in the grain pattern on the rock's surface. "So, now what?" he asked, looking up at his father.
