A demonstration

I watched, surprised and unnerved as Derek changed into a female version of himself right in front of me. Sam giggled before giving our former brother a hug. "Her name is Daisy in this form; I picked it myself."

"We can all transform into virtually anything we wish within relative size of our own bodies and energy levels." Calmly, dad said.

"Energy levels...?" Confused, I asked.

"Of course." Smiling, Derek, or rather, Daisy said. "Both matter and energy are interchangeable so, using our energy, we can create more mass and return it to energy when we are done."

"You will be able to transform into anything once puberty hits; which should be any day now." Bemused, mom said. "Just don't be surprised if Samantha asks you to become a girl for her next sleepover when it happens."

"Like is did for me." Ruefully, Derek said.

"Which explains why I wasn't invited." Sighing, I said.

Mom threw me a bemused grin. "Once you start your own journey, you will be getting more invites to misadventures than you will care for." Smiling, she said. "Your father and I arrived here as orphans; we had to learn everything on our own before meeting the Multiplayers."

I gasped hearing mom mention The Multiplayers. They were allies to the problem child gang,a group of young superheroes in my favorite graphic novel series.

"They were real?!" Stunned, I blurted out.

"They were all real." Nodding, dad confirmed. "We were not a part of the group as children but we are tempted to jump in this time around."

He paused then cleared his throat. Mom looked at me then beamed as did Sam. Derek, however sighed. "Um... John, you're changing."

Startled, I turned to a mirror to find that...
