The tryouts continued well. Jack proved to be an excellent player who could pass with incredible accuracy, run quickly and swiftly, and was hard to tackle. At the end of practice, Coach Z blew his whistle and all the players joined a huddle around him.
"Alright boys, nice playing out there. I'm sorry everyone can't make the team, but we have to make cuts. So, here are the guys who made it," Coach Z said. He began to read down a long list of names and what their positions would be. "And finally, Jack over here will be our starting quarterback," he said. All of the big football players cheered and whooped loudly. Jack felt good that he was respected by his teammates.
Coach Z announced that their first game was in one week and that they should all be prepared for it. Everyone broke the huddle and went back to the locker room. As Jack removed his helmet and various pads, he thought about the game and his future as a football player.
