Mom, Elizabeth, Jenny and I had arrived at daddy's penthouse for my sixteenth birthday party, not really expecting anything out of the ordinary. Poppa was not able to attend due to an emergency appointment; we were used to that, he was the best in the business. As we entered the penthouse, however, we found what looked more like a Halloween celebration than a birthday.
"Nick, Angelica was not born on Halloween." Unimpressed, mom began.
Daddy smiled. "No, Angelica was born under a Super Hunter's Moon." Softly, he said. "That Super Hunter's Moon has returned for her sixteenth birthday, marking a near impossibly rare but exceptionally special occasion."
With that, the dark decorations fell, replaced with bright angelic decorations and bright colors one would expect from a girl's sixteenth birthday. All of us were confused by this and I knew I had to say something.
"What is this special occasion, other than my birthday, daddy?"
Daddy smiled kindly, a tears forming in his eyes. "The beginning of my redemption."
"Redemption...?" Confused, mom asked.
Daddy nodded before waving his hand at Elizabeth and Jenny; they both crumpled to the floor unconscious. "They do not need to see this... not yet." Serious, he said. "They are too young."
"What did you..." Worried, mom began.
Her words died in her throat as daddy took on a terrifying transformation. He now had red fire burned skin, daggers for fingernails and huge black wings. Mom's mouth opened as if to scream but no sound came forth. I found myself staring but, for some reason, I felt no fear.
"My birth name is Satan." Softly, daddy said. "The willing birth of my daughter on a Super Hunter's Moon, followed by a second on her sixteenth birthday opens my only opportunity to take a path to redemption."
"But the Good Book..." Wincing, I started.
"...was translated by mortals with a limited understanding." Serious, daddy interrupted. "All I will say on the subject is that there is far more to the story than was told."
At that, mom fainted...
