I returned home with mom and dad to find yet another surprise. Mr. Summers, the father of my friend, Sarah was waiting for us on our front lawn with a dark expression on his face. Dad frowned deeply before turning to mom and I with a look that we both meant 'stay here' and exited the vehicle before walking up to Mr. Summers. I strained my ears to hear what they were saying only they used some form of sign language I did not know. Mom obviously did, however, and the look on her face told me it was nothing good. Moments later, Mr Summers walked away and dad motioned us to leave the car.
"What's going on, dad?" Worried, I asked. "Did something happen to Sarah?"
"An error of epic proportions has occurred." Serious, dad replied. "One which could have created a rift in the peace talks."
"Fear not, Jon." Calmly, mom said. "Sarah is safe but... she has changed not much unlike yourself."
"She's a werewolf too?" Trying to understand, I asked.
Dad sighed. "She is a vampire now." Darkly, dad replied. "Both her father and I are furious about how this all transpired but what is done is done so we must adjust our plans."
"What do you mean?" Wincing, I asked.
"We shall move into the family estate then reopen the tunnels to the midnight forest through the catacombs." Serious, mom said. "There we can better work with the pack in hammering out a new plan for a path to peace."
"You mean between vampires and werewolves?" Gulping, I said.
Dad nodded. "Originally, the plan was to work out a treaty between Mr Summers and myself." Serious, dad explained. "Only those on both sides saw that turning you into a vampire and Sarah into a werewolf would create a bridge."
"It was a plan created out of impatience and haste." Frowning, mom added. "So now, we need another plan."
