Chapter #6

Off to Find the Doctor

"Well, there is one guy I know," said Lana. "He's a teacher here. Dr. McGann, I think, or McGee. He was in the west side of the school, last I saw him."

"And we are currently on the east side..." Josh sighed. "We have to go to the other side of the campus."

"Which means we might run into more infected people," Dee stated. She turned to Lana. "What does this doctor look like? If we come across someone who doesn't know him, we can at least describe him to check if anyone has seen him."

"He has black hair, glasses..." Lana said, holding her arm about two yards above the ground. "Yea high, a good three hundred pounds. He usually wears a rumpled brown suit."

Dee nodded, drawing the mental picture. "Okay, we'll go to the west side of the campus and see if we can find him there."

Just as they were about to leave, Josh stopped. "Will you two be okay?" he asked.

"Oh sure," said Jenny. "This doesn't feel half bad. Heck, if either of us get hungry..." She shook her giant breasts. "It's not like we haven't got a good drink!"

Josh blushed, and muttering a small "okay, well then..." he slipped after Dee.

"That...was awkward." Josh said.

"Could have been worse," Dee remarked. "You could have said yes."

Josh furrowed his brow. "You think I would be so crass?"

"Huh? No!" scoffed Dee. "If you drank from her, I have no doubt you would have been infected too!"

"That's not what I meant."

"Well, what did you--" Dee stopped short.

"What's wrong?" Josh asked worriedly. "Have you been infected?"

"No..." said Dee. She sniffed the air. "Are we near the pool?"

"I think so...do you smell chlorine?"

"You don't?"

Josh quirked an eyebrow. "I've been on the swim team for years, Dee. I've gotten so used to it, I'm surprised I even knew what you were sniffing for."

"So if we are near the pool..." Dee said, looking thoughtful. She snapped her fingers, smiling. "I've got an idea. Which way to the pool?"

"Down this hall. Follow me."

They walked down the barren corridor, looking around to make sure there were no other people, whether infected or not, as they made their way to the swimming area.

"What are you gonna do, Dee?"

She pulled out a small flask. "Jenny and Lana said that it was something in the water that made the grow, and they only started growing like crazy today. So, if this is the infected water, we can take some and test it out."

"But, couldn't they have, you know drunk the fountain water? That could've been what they meant." Josh reasoned.

"I didn't see any drinking fountains in the hallway where they were, and they can't have started growing very far from where we last saw them. Besides, why else would they be so close to the pool?"

Josh shrugged. "Fair enough, I suppose."

As Dee approached the pool, Josh screeched, "Wait!"

Wheeling around, Dee looked at him with fear in her eyes. "What?! What's wrong?!"

At this Josh started pulling Dee away from the pool's edge. "If it is the pool water, and you touch it, you'll catch whatever they got, and then you'll be stuck in here for who knows how long!" he said, pulling the flask from her hands. "I don't want that to happen to you."

"I've got gloves, you dope," said she, pulling a pair of rubber gauntlets out of her lab coat. "I'd be a pretty crummy biology student if I didn't protect myself in a biological emergency like this."

Josh didn't budge. "I'm not taking that chance."

"Seriously?"

"Seriously."

They stood staring at each other for a few minutes. When it was obvious to her that Josh wasn't going to back down, she sighed, and handed the gloves to him. Taking them, he pulled them over his hands as he leaned over the edge of the pool. He filled the flask to the brim, and corked it.

"Get a towel and dry that off, so you don't get infected."

Grabbing a towel from the nearest locker room, Dee grabbed the flask from Josh, and began to dry it off, being careful not to touch it without the towel.

"All good?" asked Josh, pulling the gauntlets off and tossing them to the side.

"All good." Dee said, stuffing the dried flask into her now empty pocket.

"Then let's go."

They continued towards the western side of the college, until...

You have the following choices:

1. Josh starts growing! Some water got in the gloves!

2. Dee starts growing! She didn't dry the flask well enough!
