That night you sat on Mihal’s stomach as Kevin and Yasmin slept on either side of her in her bed, her arms draped over them. You had a slight headache, due to having a little too much wine at the celebration.
“I don’t get it.” You said to Mihal. “I didn’t drink anywhere near as much as you. How come I have a headache, and you’re completely fine?” Mihal giggled. “Could be our wine is different then what you have where you come from. Or maybe because I’m much larger than you, and can handle more than you can.”
You lay back on top of Mihal and sigh. “Is something wrong?” Asks Mihal. “Well.” You say. “I always told myself I would never have kids. That I never wanted to fall in love.”
“Why’s that?” Asks Mihal. “Because I never really trusted women.” You say. “You trust me don’t you?” Asks Mihal. “Of course.” You say. “Until I met you, I had never been in love with anyone. Yet here I am, in love with giant fox, and with children.”
Mihal smiled. “Then I guess we were just meant to be.” She holds her hand out and you climb into her palm. She holds you to her cheek and nuzzles you. You hug back.
“I have something for you.” Says Mihal as she sets you down on her chest. “Something very special. I can only give it to someone I can absolutely trust, and I think you fit that description.” She puts her hand over her mouth and begins coughing.
“Are you alright?” You ask. She nods as she coughs again, and something lands in her hand. She grips the object between her fingers and holds it out to you. It is a large spherical ruby, that seems to glow with a bright red light.
“Take it.” Says Mihal. You reaches out and touch the ruby. It istantly shrinks to a small down to the size of your fist, as you hold it in your palm. “That is the Orabos Stone.” Says Mihal. “It is an artifact of ghreat power. It will grant its’ owner nearly any desire”
“You had this in your stomach?” You ask, a little bit grossed out. “I had to keep it in a safe place.” Says Mihal. “I thought there would be no safer place than in there.”
You turn the glowing red orb over in your hands. “How does it work?” You ask. “Just hold it, and concentrate on what you want. Of course it does have certain limitations.”
“Like what?” You ask.
“For starters, it glows because it is full of magical energy. With each wish you make, the glow will get dimmer and dimmer. Eventually, it will go dead. It takes a hundred years for it to fully charge again, so wish wisely.”
“Why couldn’t you just use this to bring back the males population of the island?” You ask. “That’s another limit it has.” Says Mihal. “It can’t create living beings.”
You stare into the glow of the stone. It feels warm in your hands, like a flame. “Thank you Mihal.” You say, kissing her on the nose. “I promise I will use this for good. I only wish I had something for you.”
“You have already given me a gift.” Says Mihal. “You have given me love, and you have given me children.”
“Even so.” You say. “There’s something I want to do for you.” You hold the stone in your hands and concentrate. The gem’s glow becomes a little dimmer, as you feel the energy surge within the jewel.
A violin and bow appear at your feet. You set the stone down and pick them up. “What is that?” Asks Mihal. “It’s called a violin.” you say. “It’s a musical instrument. This is my gift for you.”
You pull the bow across the strings, playing a melodious tune. The flow of music you create is almost enchanting. It’s hard to believe you’re just making up the whole thing as you go. When you finish, Mihal hugs you to her cheek again. “That was beautiful.” She says. “But you’re even more beautiful.” You say.
Mihal giggles. “I will always love you.” She says, kissing you. “Likewise.” You say.
