Chapter #18The next week by: Drakin   "I'm telling you, you're worried over nothing," Ash waved a dismissive clawed hand as he walked/waddled, "Jake's a good cook. It'll be fine."
"Maybe too good," Dimitri muttered looking over his jiggling friend, "Have you seen yourself lately? You're more than twice the dragon you were when he arrived."
The maroon dragon paused and looked over his own figure, which was indeed larger. and hung almost past his knees. His limbs had thickened and developed new creases where fatty folds sagged. His rump was definitely larger, perhaps twice it's former width and jiggled with his every step. Even his cheeks had begun to round, giving his snout a stubbier more soft appearance.
"Well, maybe I've indulged a little..."
" 'A little'?" Dimitri echoed in disbelief.
"...But it's hardly the big deal you're making it out to be."
"What about the Elders then?" Dimitri pressed as they joined the throng of students headed for the cafeteria, "I heard this morning Headmaster Ignitus crushed his seat in class."
"Please," Ash muttered, "Even the headmaster admitted it was old and creaking and could have broken at any time."
"And the fact he got stuck in the doorway leaving class?"
"Student rumors," Ash replied, "Why are you so keen to paint Jake as the bad guy? Maybe he just makes good food."
"Too good..." Dimitri replied.
Before they even got to the cafeteria the smells grabbed them by the noses and spun the taps on their saliva glands wide open. In spite of himself Dimitri felt his stomach growl like a starving beast before he even laid eyes on the food. And when he eventually saw the food as he got into line it was an effort not to dash to the front and grab everything.
Jake had gone all out for his first day cooking for the student body. A normal meal consisted of a main dish like a hamburger, an alternative say a fried chicken sandwich, a side of fries, a couple cookies, and a packaged drink.
Jake's lunch however consisted of five main dishes: Pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, boneless fried chicken breasts, Salisbury steak, and fried lamb-chops. Five side dishes: Fries, scalloped potatoes, macaroni and cheese, chicken Alfredo, and chicken fried rice. And three desserts: Chocolate pudding, doughnuts, and small chocolate cakes. The latter of which were each the size of a small plate for each student.
Dimitri wanted to resist, but by the time he got to the food he couldn't help himself and loaded up his overflowing try with one of everything. It was only after he walked away following Ash's bouncing rear and precariously holding the try in one clawed hand he realized what he'd done. His mind wared with his stomach over the issue, but by the time they sat down at a table his stomach had won and Dimitri shrugged as he dug into the delicious food. How damaging could Jake's meals actually be?   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
