(Uzumaki residence- Hinata Uzumaki 72 Boruto and Shikadai 45 Himewari 40 Yumi 10)
Practicing her basic three academy jutsu's clone body replacement and henge, a small black hair girl with pale lavender eyes wearing a pick crop top and pink skirt (think 12 year old Ino outfit but pink) in the front yard of the Uzumaki residence.
Taking a break Yumi Uzumaki looked up at the passing clouds before falling backwards to cloud gaze. 'Wow the Nara genes really hit me hard with their laziness.' Yumi thinks to herself. 'I wonder why the jutsu didn't work like I thought it would. Last time I imprinted onto Kaa-chan and acted like a child, so why if i was regressed to an unborn even if only for a moment do I still remember everything?' Yumi thinks ruefully to herself. She had hoped to forget all the pain she had caused as her past self Naruto Uzumaki. Shrugging to herself, Yumi promised that she would never tell anyone that she still had her memories.
To throw everyone off to almost guarentee that no one caught on, Yumi made sure she was the biggest girly girl in the entire academy, she even had a fake fangirl phase where she acted as if she had a crush on Sasuke's grandson. Barf, she still hated that teme, but Himewari was on top of it and gave her a stern yet unneeded lecture about why being a fan girl was dangerous to said fan girl as they tended to die young. So Yumi 'snapped' out of her fan girl phase yet made sure to keep being a girly girl. Yumi was now a master of makeup, gossip, all things cute boy related and a myriad of other useless things she though would throw her family off.
Looking back on it, Yumi realized she probably acted it out a little too well as she had learned to actually love some of the activities she partook with her fell female classmates. know what they said, do something you hate long enough and you'll learn to love it. Who was Yumi kidding, she did love it, it was so mindless and entertaining. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, Yumi walked inside to visit with her Baa-chan, who was in failing health. Last year, Hinata had acquired pneumonia and it had caused a trickle down of other health problems and Yumi had been spending extra time with the woman she used to love romantically.
Entering one of the spare bedrooms that Hinata had moved into a few years ago having given the clan compound to Himewari as Boruto couldn't be clan head as the 9th hokage. Stepping into the bedroom, Yumi knew something was wrong as Sakura's apprentice and daughter Sarada was in the room along with her uncle Boruto and her mom and dad. The moment she entered the room Hinata rasps out, "I need to speak to Yumi-chan alone, just for a few moments."
After everyone leaves the room, Hinata calls out to Yumi, "Yumi-chan please come here." Obliging Yumi walks to stand beside Hinata. Looking straight into the eyes of her granddaughter, Byakugan meeting byakugan "Naruto, dont think for a minute i didn't catch on."
"Baa-chan, I honestly dont know what you are talking about?" Yumi lies
"Dont play coy with me young lady, I knew when you were five years old that the mental changes didn't take effect." Hinata says with a weak smirk
"What gave me away?" yumi asks looking at the ground dejectedly
"Back when you first accessed you chakra network for the first time again, you got excited and your old catch phrase, believe it, slipped out." Hinata says in a small chuckle "I happened to overhear it."
"Oops, you were never supposed to know." Yumi whispers but Hinata still catches it
"I know, I figured you also wanted to forget your past and our horrible experience with that vile jutsu." Hinata says getting a small nod out of her granddaughter. "Yumi, I wont make it past today, I'm using the very last of my chakra to keep me going just a bit longer and once i run out, that is it." Hearing this Yumi begins to openly cry, her emotions no longer under her control. "Yumi look at me," Hinata orders as she forces Yumi to look her in the eyes. "I want to say that I am proud of you and what you are doing for our daughter. You have more than redeemed yourself and I love you, truly love you like i did when we were young and in love. I am begging you to not mourn my passing but instead celebrate the time we had."
"No I wont let you leave me! I love you grandma" Yumi cries. a bit too loud
Hearing yumi cry out everyone burst back into the room while Yumi races out the door. Racing down to the picture with the safe, Yumi charges up a massive jyuuken strike and slams it into the safe making a large hole. grabbing the scroll Yumi races back upstairs.
"Kaa-chan, I found that safe last year and broke into it, please can we use this to save baa-chan."
"We'll talk about this later young lady," Himewari says to her daughter before turning to Hinata, "please, kaa-chan let me use it please, I'm not ready to lose you."
"Kaa-chan you need to use it now, Baa-chan is using her own chakra to stay alive, if you wait she will die, I dont want Baa-chan to die." Yumi says in full on waterworks
"Is this true Kaa-chan?" Himewari asks
"It's true, I figure i have about an hour left at this rate." Hinata guesses
"Kaa-chan please save Baa-chan, you can make her my younger sister. Please." Yumi begs frantically
Looking at Yumi, Hinata realizes that Yumi was indeed not ready to lose her and had had no time to mentally prepare herself. Another realization hits Hinata. This wasn't Naruto as Yumi asking Himewari to save his wife. No this was a little girl asking her mother to help her grandmother. While indeed Yumi still remembered her life as Naruto, Yumi had become her own person and it was Yumi asking. With this epiphany, Hinata thinks it over. 'If it was truly Naruto asking Himewari to save me, i would say let me pass, but...'
"You may do it Himewari-chan or should I say Kaa-chan." Hinata asks with a weak chuckle
"Any preference age wise?"
"Well, since Yumi-chan here is keeping me alive against my will make me 11 so that I'm the older sister. Need to start the sisterly love hate relationship off properly." Hinata giggles
"What thats no fair, I should get to be the older sister." yumi pouts
"It's her choice Yumi-chan." Himewari says in a placating manner
"How about this Yumi-chan, you can be the older sister on one condition, Himewari you are going to have to hold her to this promise."
