Paul smiled and sat back down and continued with his day, the classes seemed to drag on and on but 3pm soon came around. But he had to spend the next 3 hours marking work so he didn't have to take it home with him, 3 hours later he was ready to leave.
As Paul prepared to leave, he remembered that he was meeting Barry at a local bar on his way home; so he jumped in the car and headed down to the bar; which was only 20 minutes from his work, so it wasn't too far out of the way.
Paul walked in and saw Barry sat in a booth over in the distance; 'hey Barry; hows it going?' Paul asked as he walked over, 'oh hey Paul, not to bad, not to bad my friend; just taking in a light snack' Barry said gesturing to the plates on the table, there were 3 plates piled on top of each other at the side that were covered in appitisers and he was making his way through a fourth, 'bit peckish tonight fat Baz?' Paul asked, 'oh heck I'm always hungry these days, surprised I'm not rolling around everywhere' Barry said smacking his belly, the two friends laughed.
'Hey can we got to pints over here please?' Barry asked as he shouted over at the bar staff, the staff knew them well so they weren't too bothered by Barry's slight rudeness. A young girl walked over and gave them their drinks and asked if they'd like anything else, Barry shook his head and the girl retreated back to the bar.
'So what ya weighing these days then butterball?' Paul asked, 'oh I've no idea, last time I checked I was 246, but that was 3 weeks ago, probably gained another 12 lbs at least on top of that' Barry said, 'sure looks like it' Paul said, Barry laughed heartily as he stuck another chicken strip in his mouth, 'Kind of funny, this isn't the first weight related conversation I've had today' Paul said, taking a sip of his beer.
'oh? Do tell' Barry said, 'well...I was sat in my classroom and one of my 6th form students comes in and says Coach wants him to bulk up and he comes to ask me on any tips of how to do so' Paul explained, 'he came to you for advice? Should have sent him to me' Barry said laughing again, 'haha true enough Barry, but yeah it was kind of strange for him to come and ask me' Paul said, 'sounds to me like you've got an admirer' Barry said, taking a sip of his beer, 'really?' Paul said, 'yeah, might have been his way of breaking the ice so to speak' Barry said, 'hmmm yeah, was just a bit strange' Paul said
Paul and Barry remained silent for a few minutes; whilst Barry finished off his plate and both men finished their pints
'So hows my lil god son doing?' Barry asked, 'Scott's doing good thanks Barry, he and the wife are away for a couple of weeks at her parents as her mother has been a bit ill, so shes helping out' Paul explained, 'ah sorry to hear that bud, but hey lots of free time on your hands' Barry said, 'Yeah, just going to chill for most of it, get in a pizza or something later and have a few beers' Paul said
'Pizza and Beer eh? Sounds like a good evening' Barry said, 'Your welcome to tag along Barry, I haven't got much on so would be nice with the company' Paul said
Barry thought for a moment......
