Chapter #4Good idea! by: Unknown It was an advertisement you accidentally clicked on while searching through youtube. Before you knew it, an item was shown being shipped to your house. Somehow, whoever sent it knew your name and address despite you not putting any information in the ad. At first you were quite scared, who knows what sort of evil people could be using your info for nefarious purposes. But you ultimately denied any of that ever happening, in a way to calm yourself.
There wasn't any more room for denial when a package labeled for you appeared on your doorstep merely days later. You hyperventilated a bit, but brought the package to your room and practically ripped it open. Packaging peanuts and a piece of paper were the first things you saw; the latter being what you picked up first. "Dear Dean," the note read. "Congratulations. You are the first and only person to have the Trait Collector. Use it to your heart's content within reason, don't use it for illegal activities or else we will have to take the device back. Enjoy. Signed, The Organization."
"Strange note." you thought, tossing it aside and reaching your arms into the package. A cold metallic object was at the bottom, with another piece of paper attached to it via a rubber band. Pulling it out,you could see it was a somewhat thick remote, with an antenna and screen on the side with a few buttons, and an inverted cone on the opposite side. You murmur, "Interesting."
The note, as you realized, was actually a set of instructions to operate the device. You read through them, "Press the buttons to select a body part and aim at target. The chosen part will be sucked into device and be ejected from funnel, the part will be within a containment pod. The containment pod will follow the device and will not be noticed by people." You assume the inverted cone is the funnel the directions mention. "Target will be missing the selected part, but will not be harmed nor have no memory of having the missing part (unless the reality settings are changed). Contained part can then be swapped with same part from new target. e.g. Swapping target's hand's with contained hands will give the target the previously contained hands, while their original hands will now be in a containment pod."
"Hey. that sounds pretty neat." you smile. "I can think of plenty of funny things to use this for." You throw the directions away without giving them another glance over. By doing this, you forget to read a warning in smaller text at the bottom of the page. "Warning: Parts cannot stay contained without being attached to a body for more than 24 hours. Otherwise, the containment pod will vanish and the part will instinctively search for a body to be attached to. Due to the current version of this device, the part will seek out the owner of the device and attach to them, causing the owner's original part to disappear. Attachment via this way is permanent."   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
