A sour look spread across Theresa's face as she looked up from her handbag you couldn't see her face but because you weren't moving and she wasn't saying anything you knew something was wrong "what's wrong" you asked, her voice sounded weak "I'm sorry Jason i forgot to bring a spare diaper", this took you by surprise and it wasn't good "i can go get a new one from the baby needs isle but they won't let me use it until i buy it so you'll be stuck in that dirty diaper for a few minutes i'm sorry" she said obviously disappointed with herself, you remained quiet.
Theresa did her best to find everything quickly but even with that it was still 10 minutes before you were at the checkout and those ten minutes felt like an hour and the smell got worse and worse as it lingered in the air, people gave Theresa bad looks and whispered to themselves quietly, you could tell that Theresa had noticed too. a few minutes later you and Theresa were in the changing room with the purchased items in paper bags leaned up against the changing table, once Theresa had cleaned you up and changed your diaper she started to cry a little, and she gave you a hug "i'm sorry for that Jason" she sobbed "i can't believe i was so irresponsible, maybe mum was right i don't know how hard her job is" she cried weakly. "it's okay Theresa, you replied "we all forget things sometimes, you have been perfect up until this point so what if you made one mistake it isn't the end of the world"
Theresa smiled tears still falling down her cheeks "thank you Jason" she got up and wiped away her tears "well then we have to get going i need to get dinner ready and change everyone's sheets" she said with a bit more energy in her voice, she picked you up and placed you in the carrier and started walking home, on the way home you fell asleep, you had played a lot with Theresa today, on the swings and at the park you needed some rest. once you got home Theresa put you in your cot and resumed her duties around the house.
