Months passed, Ryan had forgotten about the magic remote. He had even forgotten where he had put it. Some things had changed in his family. Ashley was still as annoying as ever, his dad was still a sports fan, although he seemed to be looking a little down lately.
Ryan's mother has undergone the most changes. She appeared to be more energetic now. She exclaimed, "Feeling youthful again." She was currently going to a local gym to stay fit and get in shape. She was getting toned up. Susan also cut her hair in a pixie bob.
Ryan sensed a shift in his parents' relationship, as if something had happened. They appeared to be more distant from one other. Their relationship seemed tenuous.
Ryan hadn't seen their intimate moments or mere gestures of affection in a while. His father now rarely made jokes that Ryan thought were old. His mother also started to go out often, she said to meet a friend from the gym. At first Ryan thought it was just some kind of petty fight.
"Do you believe they got into a fight?"
"Who?" Ashley was still engrossed in her phone game.
"You idiot, Mom and Dad,"
"Do they seem to be fighting?" Ryan felt irritated, and his sister was either ignorant or dense.
"It's only a small issue thing. Don't worry about it," she said.
"I hope so."
But the two of them soon figured it out. Their parents decided to divorce. Susan explained that her relationship with their father was not the same anymore. Susan met women named Lisa at the gym and realized that she was gay and was having an affair with her. Their mother explained she was trying to get everything to work, but she couldn't fool herself. Of course, they were both surprised, especially Ashley, who still couldn't accept their separation, and she ran out. Ryan's father could only accept even though Ryan was sure his father still loved his mother.
