After a crazy year, Ryan was about to enter his senior year of high school. Honestly, with the last year, Ryan just wanted to go to college. However, since the divorce, Ryan noticed his dad had been in bad spirits until recently. Ryan noticed a turnaround with his dad's attitude, expecting him to have a new girlfriend after catching him hiding his phone after smiling and looking down on it. Ryan was really happy to see his dad happy. However, Ashley started to have trust issues after the long absence of their mother, but Ryan tried to be optimistic and help his sister in any way possible.
After studying one day, Ryan's dad came in.
"Hey Ryan, you okay if you come in?" John came in and asked.
"Sure."
"Well it's been a tough year for us, the idea of dating seemed kind of scary. However, I met this girl, and she wants to meet the family," John stated.
"Oh, that's awesome, I'm glad to see someone make you happy," Ryan said.
"Do you think Ashley will handle it well?" John asked.
"Well, she wants you to be happy, and I could help with the transition if needed, just try be sure she doesn't leave, as I don't know how Ashley could handle it."
"I know, and I know how serious this is, and I wouldn't be talking to you if it wasn't. Also I want you to know that she made the first move," John said.
"Okay, I guess we can meet her," Ryan said.
"Great, we'll go out as a family to get Italian, I'll set a reservation for tomorrow," John said. Ryan knew that Italian was Ashley's favorite.
"Also, you might have meet her before, but I'll make sure you two are properly introduced," John continued. "If you can, can you help me convince Ashley this is a good idea, ever since mom-"
"I know, and I'll help. We don't have to talk about it," Ryan interrupted.
Ryan then went over to Ashley's room. It took some convincing, but Ryan urged Ashley that after everything their father had been through, that he deserved happiness. Ashley eventually agreed.
A couple days later, Ryan took his seat at the restaurant with Ashley and their dad.
"Aww, there she is," John said
