Ryan saw a familiar looking lady enter the restaurant. Then it hit him. "Holy shit, that's DJ." Ryan didn't recognize her at first due to her hair being longer instead of a pixie cut. She approached the table.
"Hi Ryan, Hi Ashley, I'm Deborah," she said. Then, looking at Ryan, added, "I used to work with your friend Jake's mom." Deborah then went over to John and gave him a kiss on the check. "How are you doing, honeybear?"
"I'm doing great now that you're here," John replied.
Ryan, still puzzled at his friend's mom's former lesbian work assistant dating his dad, was stunned and blurted out what he was thinking. "How did you two start dating?"
Deborah was the first to speak up. "Well it started 6 months ago. I heard what happened with your father and asked to grab a cup of coffee together, then we really hit it off," she said while looking into John's eyes lovingly and holding his hand. "From there I kept bugging your dad for a cup of coffee until, let's just say, I wanted more than a cup of coffee."
"Well tell us more about yourself," Ashley injected.
"Well her favorite animal is a silver fox," John said before Deborah could get a word in.
Deborah began to laugh. "I love your father's jokes," she replied before continuing, "well I just got promoted to be an accountant at a fortune 500 company after being an office assistant. I love going on walks, and I used to be a bit of a free spirit, but now I just want to settle down."
Ryan was stunned, his father had game.
Deborah began to whisper something into John's ear.
"Well I got to use the bathroom," Ryan's father said. He soon got up and left the table.
"So what do you see in our father?" Ashley asked.
"Okay, straight to the point, I like it Ashley, I just feel so comfortable around your father and when I was away from him I missed him dearly. Which is what I wanted to ask you guys about. Would it be cool if I were to start moving in? I'm really excited and I want to see where this goes."
Ryan, still stunned, tried his best to offer positive vibes. "Umm, sure, just it sounds like fun," he said. Truth be told, this was so surreal for him.
"Okay, and Ashley what do you think of the idea? I'm a family first kind of gal so I only want to do it if you feel comfortable," Deborah said.
"Uh, this all seems sudden, but okay," said Ashley.
Deborah squealed in excitement. "Trust me, you are not going to regret this. I really want to know the both of you so I definitely want to spend some time together to get to know you. But trust me, this will be fun."
During the rest of dinner, Ryan could tell that John and Deborah had chemistry. Soon they all went home and Ryan began to fall asleep. He knew that Deborah was moving in to their house in 3 days.
