Alex woke up feeling well-rested. He stayed in bed for a while longer before finally getting up. It was the weekend so there wasn't any rush to get ready, but he was starting to get hungry. He put on a fresh t-shirt and a pair of jeans, then headed downstairs to get some breakfast and saw his dad at the table, sipping his morning coffee. As a teacher, he didn't need to work weekends.
"Morning bud," his dad greeted him.
"Morning Dad," said Alex before making himself some breakfast.
Once Alex finished eating and cleaning up after himself, he started to leave the room when his dad called after him, "Oh, by the way, a package for you came in the mail. I left it on the counter."
"Oh, cool."
Alex walked over, grabbed the package, and brought it up to his room feeling a bit confused. He didn't remember ordering anything and he couldn't think of anyone who would want to send him something. "I wonder what it is," he mused, setting the package down on his desk. Alex opened it up to find a box labeled 'The Swaptacular Remote' along with some sort of note. He put the box aside for the moment and read over the note.
Hello, Alexander Blake,
You have been selected as a beta tester for Blarg Industries' newest creation, The Swaptacular Remote. This remote, which we have included in this package, is capable of altering reality in several ways, allowing you to swap bodies, personalities, and more with other people. The remote is yours to play around with. All that we ask in return is for you to provide feedback on how we might improve it at the end of the trial period. Be sure to read through the instruction manual before you begin!

"Body swapping? Are you for real?" Alex said dismissively as he set the letter down. He proceeded to open the box, removing an instruction manual and something that looked like some kind of TV remote. After taking a quick glance at the remote, he picked up the instruction manual and began flipping through it. After reading through the things this remote could supposedly do, Alex thought it was total crap. "There is no way that this is even remotely possible!" he said before cracking up at his unintentional pun.
This was like something out of a sci-fi story, and Alex knew he should be skeptical, but then again... "It can't hurt to try, right?" As the son of a science teacher, Alex knew that the only way to know if something like this was possible was to test it out and see for himself.
Determined to learn the answer, Alex grabbed the remote and headed back downstairs. Knowing he needed to find a good test subject, he decided to...   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
