All of a sudden a plate plopped down hard on the table. Clarabelle had returned, and brought quite a load of food with her. Slowly lowering herself into her seat, making sure she didn't clip one of the arms of her chair with her wide hips. Meanwhile her hearty mother glanced at what delights her daughter had returned with.
The plate rivaled her mother's normal portions, even casting a shadow on her previous two plates. The plate had been meticulously constructed for maximum capacity. Mashed potatoes glued down a foundation of fried chicken, all of which was covered in a thick gravy. A couple other meats lay carved atop the heap, and all the nooks and crannies had been filled in with corn that shimmered from all the butter it had absorbed.
With a fork in hand, Clarabelle started in on her third and biggest plate of the night. Her mother said nothing, and just enjoyed her own filling meal from the other side of the table.
Clarabelle ate like she was the only one in the restaurant, focusing solely on her food. She was almost in a trance. For someone so reluctant at first, she sure had an appitite. It was easy to see what had lead to such an expansion such as hers. At this point her mother only acted as a reflection of who she would soon become, and most likely surpass in the near future.
With her plate emptying, she didn't even notice when her mother left to go restock. You don't think she even notices you as you bring over another large cup of soda to replace hers when it inevitibly runs dry. The one thing that does seem to get her out of her trance though is an empty plate. Scooping the last of the gravy mixed potatoes up with a fork, Clarabelle took a moment to breathe.
She leaned back a bit, balancing out her hunched over nature during her meal. Rubbing her bloated gut, she could only be internally thinking about what a mistake it was to come here, and how all the calories will only keep increasing her waistline. Her stomach felt tauter then when she arrived, but she wasn't completely full. Full enough though that she didn't want to heave herself up to go back in line for more.
Lucky, or maybe unlucky for her, her mother was on her way back with two full plates. Clarabelle didn't notice her mother's return until she was coming around the backside of the table to her seat. Then all of a sudden she placed a plate down in front of her more than satisfied daughter.
"Here you go sweetie, I decided to get you a little something while I was up. I knew you couldn't be full yet." Clarabelle shot a dagger filled look at her mother, as they both knew what was going on here. But just a moment later Clarabelle pushed those feelings aside as she knew she couldn't resist the tempting plate in front of her. Although her stomach was satisfied, her appitite was not, and as long as she still had room she would continue to eat.
So she stuck a fork in the cheese covered noodles, excited for the flavor that was about to be in her mouth.
