This choice: to go the see the tournament. • Go Back...Chapter #77to go the see the tournament. by: Xydis   You look up at Eden and wonder if she would like to see the tournament. It would wonder you if not and it would be interesting for you as well. For sure there are plenty of people, maybe even some new friends to meet.
“Hey guys, let us go to the training area and watch the tournament.” You suggest.
William, Meredith and Janet agrees with you – and even Eden smiles.
In the training area three rows of benches have been places around the square in the middle. It is not like a boxing ring. Only white lines separate the fighting area from the spectators.
“Uhm is this save?” You ask Eden, when you notice that there is only one meter between you and the line. The fighters would be right in front of you, swinging weapons and beating each other.
“Normally it is perfectly save. No viewer ever has been wounded seriously, but if you want to be sure we can go to the second row and block the first, so you still can see something.” Eden suggested. At first you liked the idea, but very quickly the room fills and you notice that you will force visitors to leave if you insist on blocking a full bench, just for your comfort.
“I think I am fine.” You say and hold Janet’s and Merry’s hands. They sit at your sites, while Willy sit next to Janet and holds her hand as well. Eden stands behind you and hushes people away that come to close for her liking. Everybody respects her and follows her orders.
Very soon the first match starts. It is grappling without weapons, what surprises you, but Eden explains, that a knight needs to be able to fight with or without weapons.
The first fight is over when the man in blue shorts had the one with the red ones in a dead-lock and that knights gives up. They do not hit each other in the face and do not make each other bleed, what you like very much. Still is interesting to see, especially since they do not separate light from heavy knights and not even male from female. You cheer when a very agile knightess in shorts and sports bra win against a much taller and heavier knight.
“WOW! She is good!” You call out and ask Eden if she knows the knightess. “Yes, we often train together.” She says.
“Do you win against her?” You dig further, since the tournament has a little break and the setup is changed. “More often than I lose.” Eden says and you nod in respect. She must be very good.
The next part is more of what you have expected. The knights are heavy armored and wear swords and shields. On the Shields, on the top of the helmet and on the breast-plate they have stuff like modeling clay. In the matches, they try to hit those with their swords. The knight that damages all three areas, wins.
Those matches look like from a historical movie. Swords bang against each other and the knights even kick and slap each other. It is only due to the armors, that they get not wounded.
“This is only for the best. An amateur would accidently hit an unprotected area and could even kill his opponent.” Eden explains.
She is more and more absorbent by the matches and pays less attention to you and your friends.
“Hey, this is great, but I want to test something.” You whisper to Janet.
“Okay, wat is the plan?” She asks, grinning.
“You go to the bathroom and I follow you after a minute.” You grin.
“And Eden?” Janet is not sure if she likes the idea. It is her first day in normal clothes.
“We can come back and bring her ice cream. They sell it by the entrance and you will get it for free, with your VIP-Card. I only want to quickly check what is behind the door at the end of the garden. I never checked that door. Have you?” Janet shakes her head and finally nods her head. “Okay we do it.”
She turns to Eden and snaps her fingers to get her attention. “Miss Langdon, I quickly go to the bathroom and get us some ice-cream, okay?” Eden nods and Janet disappears in the mass of people.
After a minute you turn to Eden as well.
“Sorry Eden, can I help Janet. She will have issues to carry all the ice. It is just over there, you can even see it from here.” You point at the ice-cream stand that is… partial visible behind all the people.
“You can enjoy the fights of your colleagues, I am back in a minute.”
The moment is perfect. The knightess from before just enters the area and greets her opponent.
“But you need to be back immediately.” She says.
You wink at Merry and Willy and follow Janet.
“I thought she would follow us.” You say to Janet, who stands beside the ice cream stand.
“Well, she is still watching you. You need to run from here and hope that we make it to that door before she finds us. Are you sure it is a good idea?”
You shrug. “What can happen? We are in the palace. Lord Richard is not in the town, according to Alice and I have made no further enemies so far. There is no sign at the door that it is forbidden to enter. I think we do no harm. And when we are back we still buy her ice cream.”
Janet agrees, after thinking about is. Then she counts down from three and the two of you run up the stairs and into the long hallway.
