"That does seem logical, you're mother would have already sent the messege if she gets there before us."
"Then, we'll go North to the city of Liendzay. It's a four days walk from Arya. But we can make it..." his sentence trailed off.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing..."
"You don't have to be afraid of going back home. You're people know how to fight and when to flee. You have powers no human can use. I'm sure you're people are fine."
Vanu smiled toward you, his earrings and gold chiming making it all the more sweet to see. "We should go as soon as we rest. You must have exausted yourself looking after me."
"Not at all, I can go when you are able. The snow has died down so we can leave anytime."
"Are you sure? We can go now if you wish if so, this is the only stop between besides the outpost. But it may have gone under siege as well."
"If so then they may be waiting for people trying to cross and ambushing them. We'll have to keep to the mountain side."
He sat up and wrapped the covers over his shoulder, "then when you are ready we should leave."
"You need to sleep."
"I may not be very strong but I at least learned how to fend for myself when needed, besides I've slept long enough. I'm still in a bit of pain but the least I can do
is walk."
"Fine, but the moment you get tired or are in pain we're heading for the nearest sign of shelter."
"Agreed."
You both gathered up your things and packed away the left over dry food. It was another day or two journey from where you were but Vanu convinced you of a quicker path he used through the winter forest on the way to Arya. When you were done packing and placing into your bag Vanu nodded to you as he snuffed out the fire with a wave of his hand. You both climbed out of the hole and covered it with snow. If they found out you both were camping here it was over.
He lead you as you both went along, past parts that seemed impossible to pass. He opened them with ease, revealing secrets within the trees and hidden paths. You making sure to pay close attention if there use would ever be needed again in the future. You also paid close attention to Vanu himself. Watching his breaths for any signs of fatigue or pain. If he was feeling them he was hiding them well. He wouldn't hold out long if he was though.
