Seeing Him Again

    by: MysteriousMist Author IconMail Icon
"Here." You heard the ferret stop, in front of a solid steel door.

"H-here? Davur's in here?" You looked around a little, staring at the door. It seemed to have a rather secure bolt over it, with a keypad placed near the front. You glanced over, swallowing as you stared at it. You weren't sure why that type of security would be necessary. You jumped a little as you heard a few quiet beeps, noticing the ferret tap in a few numbers without a word.

"We'll be monitoring from another room, as Davur's bound to tell you."

"He'll... He's okay, right?" You heard a few quiet tones go off as the door slid loose and started to open.

"You can see for yourself." The ferret quietly placed his hand on his forehead and shook it a little as he stepped back, letting you try to peek your head in. You tried to look around the room, but the first thing you could really note was that the place was absolutely massive. It looked like the ceiling went up as high as the gymnasium at your college, and you weren't able to even glance over all of it before you heard a voice.

"Pret? That actually you?" You swallowed but gave a small nod. The voice was a deep, guttural growl, and it made you hesitate. However, you could recognize the slight, mild tint in it that made you relax.

"Davur... You're... You're here after all?" You tried to glance about for him, grinning widely and stepping into the room as you saw him. "That... you're..."

It looked like he had been in the middle of a few stretches when you had arrived. You could spot him sitting on the ground, but he was quickly picking himself up and rushing towards you. "It is you! I'm glad you managed to find this place!" You heard the door shutting behind you, a long beep holding for the moment as he approached.

However, as he did, you had grown a little uncertain. It was a bit more difficult to make out his figure at a distance, but as he approached, it didn't take you long to realize that he had visibly changed. His scales were still white, but they seemed to have an odd, gray tint that showed when he moved. His wings were visible as he moved to you, clearly a bit higher and wider than they would normally be. However, as he approached, something more obvious was foremost in your mind. You got a very good look as he quickly zoomed closer, it quite clear that he had at least four or five feet on you by now, and that every bit of him was looking pumped. He had the same familiar look that he always had when he was fresh off of a workout, but even his quick steps towards you made his body seem to shift and press out more. As he reached within a few feet of you, one of his hands were held up towards you, shifting out and clearly packed with strength. Before you could even get a good look at him, your feet were off the ground as he picked you up, his arm around your back and side and his expression ecstatic as he pulled you to eye level.

"It's good to see you again, Pret! It's been... What, half a year?"

"Yeah..." You shook yourself out of your stupor as you heard his voice, and broke into a wide grin. "Something like that, I think. It's been a while. I don't think phone calls are really the same as seeing you, though!"

"You're telling me! Been wanting a chance to meet for ages! It's been a bit of a pain to get permission, though!" He just gave a hearty chuckle as he held you, his hand lightly patting your back. "Work been going well for you?"

"More or less. It's been a pretty steady thing. Couple of coworkers are a pain, but it's not too tough. I'd ask the same for you, but... Well..."

"Yeah. Kind of obvious, isn't it?" He grinned widely, holding you steady with one hand as he casually threw a pose with the other. "I guess you can see why I wanted this job."

You just shook your head a little as he did, though you still kept your smile. "Just going to the gym wasn't enough for you, was it?"

He gave a powerful, rumbling laugh as he held you, your body shaking a little as he held you in and pulled you closer. "Hey, you should know that better than anybody!" He gave your head a light bop, and you just shook your head quietly. "I mean... A chance like this?"

"What exactly did you get yourself into, anyways?" You let your hand lightly rub where his hand had made contact, and you felt his grip release, your feet landing lightly on the floor."

"Come on, then. You should probably grab a seat while I explain this." He kept a grin on you as he started to walk away, and you had to keep at a slight run to keep up with him. You followed him with a bit of effort, glancing over the place as you did.

The place was definitely set up for him to live in. It looked like it had been set up as a studio, though everything was clearly set up for his use. The size of most of the furniture was a good deal larger than you were used to seeing, and it was rather clear that he was being monitored the entire time. You had managed to notice at least a few obvious cameras, though you thought you spotted a couple of smaller ones near the lights.

He had noticed you staring at one of them, and let off a small chuckle. "Yeah, they pretty much keep an eye on me almost all the time." He had a bit of amusement in his voice as he spoke. "I mean, I get that they want to make sure things are working okay, but they might be going for a bit of overkill here. Think they monitor what I eat, what time I wake up and back, what time I take a shower..."

You couldn't help but smile a bit as you heard the casual tone he took to all of it. "And here I thought you'd want people watching you all the time."

He grinned a bit, nodding towards one of the few normal-sized chairs sitting near a rather large couch. However, instead of sitting it, he sat against the floor and laid his back against it. You sat down next to him, his head just meeting yours as he spoke.

"Maaaaaaaaybe. I think they prod and poke at me enough without the cameras, though." He shook his head a little as he spoke. "I mean, they measured me twice a day, have to take blood tests, have an injection of the growth serum every week, take scans on every little thing... I'm pretty sure that if I bumped myself in my sleep, they'd notice before I woke up!"

"Wow... That's... quiet something. Still, I suppose they want to keep an eye on you..." You just quietly smiled and looked at him, though you couldn't help the nagging feeling in the back of your mind. "And... And it's okay for you to tell me this? I mean, after the cloak-and-dagger stuff that I went through to get here..."

"Trust me, it's fine! They had asked about if I was going to tell you. It's a whole bunch of red tape, but we're in the clear! I had to make sure that your visit was going to be smooth and all! And... Well, obviously, I'm not going to be able to keep this a secret if you see me!"

"Yeah... I mean, the ten foot dragon tends to be a bit of a giveaway." You just leaned back into your chair, watching him shift a bit, his legs kicking out, looking like they'd easily knock a hole in the ground if he sent them downwards. "So, what changed so suddenly? You've probably been eager to tell me this for months, haven't you?"

"Ever since the start! After all, I thought you'd be as eager to see this as I am!" He chuckled and nodded, shifting up slowly. His body seemed to press a bit against itself as he stood, his strength showing in his steps. He crouched a bit as he approached, his grin wide as his muzzle brushed up against your ear. "But... Well... Something's changed recently. They've stopped giving me the serum about a month ago, and..."

"And?" You weren't exactly sure what to say as you tried to turn, his body held inches away from you as he spoke. It was a bit of a distraction, but you heard his voice quite clearly as he gave you the news.
