He remembered playing a game once where a shrunken man ended up in someone's shoe. He remembered how envious he was of that little man.
Now Ash was in a fight for his life.
It wasn't enough that he was trapped under Francine's toes, that turned out to be a blessing because the heavy fabric of the sock kept him in place. No, what was worst was the rising, swing forward, and that the sudden impact that rattled the marrow of his bones each time she took a step. Then there was the mountain of flesh pressing down all around him each time she applied weight to the foot. Each time the air was forced out out of his lungs to be replaced with less than fresh air that was getting warmer by the moment.
Completely oblivious to what was going on in her sneaker, Francine walked out of the apartment complex where she lived with her older sister and parents and made for her bike.
For Ash the bike was slightly better as the circular motion reminded him of being on a ferris wheel. The down side was that with her sneaker tilted forward and the pressure not as bad. He took this opportunity to wiggle his way out from under the socked foot. At least on top he'd have a better chance. As he crawled out from under the toes, there was a slight twitch from the huge appendages. Did she feel Him? He was not in the best of positions if she decided to get off what he assumed was a bike. If she were to put her foot on the ground he was as good as dead!
