After crawling a few feet, the vent ends in a grating overlooking a room wit some sort of vending machine, a large padded table with drawers, and some other things you can't quite get a good look at from here.

Since you have already made it here, and it seems as good a place as any to start exploring, all that makes scene to do is either open up the vent and go down into the room, or err on the side of extreme caution and wait a while and observe if anyone comes and does anything here for a bit.
