It took you a few minutes just to reach the stairs. When you arrived, you looked up. It would be a long trip, leaving you vulnerable on the white-carpeted stairs. But, then again, if you stayed to the side, you should be safe.
You began to climb, but as you began, you found out that it was going to be impossible to climb from the side. It was an odd bit of architectural work, something you had never noticed before. For some reason, the sides of the stairs were made to curve upwards towards the wall, putting them out of the reach of you jump. In order to climb from one step to another, you would have to climb up in the middle of the stair, where it was the lowest. That would easily leave you vulnerable if someone came running up the stairs, but there was no other choice.
Each step took nearly a minute just to climb one. Often, you missed your grab, slipped from the hold, or just didn't jump high enough. Then, it was tough just to pull yourself up.
You laughed, remembering P.E. Who would've thought that things you could've learned in that class would be useful? Now you wished you had paid attention during the climbing drills and such.
