You answer the phone.

Your hands shaking, you answer the call and raise your phone to your ear. "Yes, Lisa?" you ask.

"Do you know what day it is?" Lisa asked.

"Um, Thursday?"

"No, you idiot," Lisa said crossly. "Where are you? What are you doing?"

It felt like I was being interrogated. "The department store," I told her. "I need a dress to wear to my dad's wedding."

Lisa snorted. "You don't need a dress," she retorted. "Go naked."

"Lisa!" I squeaked in embarrassment. How could she even joke about such a thing?

"Anyways," Lisa said. "You know why I'm calling..."
