Stepping onto the elevator that would take him up to the command bridge he thought about the stories he'd heard of the lands to the east, tales of demons and monsters obviously these were just stories told to scare children and fools but he thought what else the sand could possibly hide, he thought of the large airborne bugs that sometimes attacked small cities and wondered if he would see any on the way to the desert or if they could even survive in the desert air?
He reached the command bridge and stepped out of the elevator, the doors shutting behind him. Looking around he saw almost no one was there yet except for one man. The rest were probably all still stowing gear or were on their way up, waiting for the elevator he had just taken up.
"Hello sir." said the man
"Good afternoon pilot. How's the ship?" said Jackson having never seen the man before.
"I wouldn't know sir, I'm just a janitor." replied the man.
"Then I'll leave you to your duties then." said Jackson turning from the man as he began to sweep the floor. Pushing dirt and other things into his pan.
"Sir, if I may ask a question?" asked the Janitor
"Certainly. Ask your question."
"Where are we headed sir?"
"Somewhere no man has been before." Said Jackson happily
"How exciting. Thank you sir." said the man returning to his sweeping as the door binged.
